Asian Culture Discussion Thread

Yes, I will be staying in Saigon.

For Pho stick to Pho Phu Vuong in D1 or Pho Le

L'usine on Le Loi is a cool place to check out upstairs, I like their Caphe Sua Da

Around the corner beside the Jewelry store they have really good Bun Thit Nuong.

Banh Mi Huynh Hoa has the best Banh Mi in the city.

If you wake up early enough you can go go Banh Mi Hoa Ma for Vietnamese style breakfast

There's a place that serves really good Dipping Ramen called Tomidaya, but it only seats like 8 people

Pizza 4P is pretty good.

In the same alley there's a place that does good Yakitori

You gotta narrow down what you're looking for so I can help you out better

^ Is the main Saigon marketplace overrated?

Mark Weins has videos of him eating at street food spots -- are those places legit?

Cho Ben Thanh is ok but it can be a bit of a tourist trap. They have good Banh beo in the food court area. other than that I wouldn't really eat there. Most of y'all stomachs probably can't handle it either.

Lunch lady is ok, but only on the day she makes bun bo hue. Every other day is kinda whatever.

Mark Weins a fool for that orgasm face tho

I recommend going to Banh Xeo 46A on dinh khong tran

Also I use uber a lot there. You can get a sim with data for about $15. You can grab it at the airport. I usually use vinaphone I think

You gotta email uber and tell them your on vacation using. Different sim tho.

Thanks for the recommendations, anh dep trai
I'm not a fan of banh xeo or pho, so it works out well for me
Love mi quang, bun bo hue, most bun dishes, banh cuon, etc.

Can't wait to go back
Thinking of visiting Westminster / Garden Grove / UC Irvine this summer

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will try my best to go to all of those places. I havent been here since i was like 8 or 10 years old so im excited. All i gotta say is the people driving out here are insane!! And it hot as helll bruhhh

Does anyone have the two block hair cut that all the Koreans get? Thinking about getting it but idk if barbers in the states would be able to cut it though.

statistics show that violence against asian women in the US are mostly white offenders

Not surprising after seeing how they behave in Asian countries and how they treat the locals.

What part of the states? Can only say from my personal experience LA Ktown or OC hair salons stylists are usually up to trends but you'd want to find the one that recently came from Korea or something.

Pics? Sounds interesting.

Here's a bunch of varied examples of it styled in different ways. IDK if they are all considered the "two block cut," but it's the same general idea. The sides are trimmed short, the top is long and drapes over the sides, and the back is blended into the top. Sides vary in length for either a really disconnected look or a more natural look.

It's a pretty distinct style. Better looking and more natural than an undercut imo. I don't see it cut like this in the states hardly ever. Only saw a guy with it once and it looked clean.
Guy in the vid has the sides cut really short so you can easily see the disconnect @ 2:00.

Yeah, I looked it up on youtube and it started similar to an undercut at first but instead of slicked back they rock it with bangs and hair hanging over the sides.

You can slick it back too. I think the main difference is where the long hair starts.

Cause I have an undercut with a fade and when it’s down it looks nothing like that.

How do you guys think China's rapid development economically and culturally will affect us? Japan has a lot of influence internationally in the arts and fashion. Korea has been really huge over the last decade internationally, and I feel like China is starting to finally develop pop culture aspects of their country which is severely lacking currently (at least from the outside looking in).

Popular culture development affecting over a billion Asian people will prob have a huge residual impact.

Interesting articles I read
