Do not drop our hit any walls with your Ultra 2 black.

It will scuff and take some of the black off. From experience :smh:

Guess it depends. I watched a few videos (below) on its durability a few weeks ago. When I tried the black on at Apple it appeared to have scratches on it but once I wiped it they were gone.

Definitely want an M4 Pro MBP.

Compared to the M3 you get more bang for your buck with the base level M4 Pro MBP (12-16 - 24 GB - 512 GB). My only concern is future proofing wise are the base specs enough to handle all the unknown A.I. stuff coming down the pipeline?

Finally. No price increases either.

Part of me wants to get rid my my macbook pro 16 m1 and buy the new mac mini and do this 😂

Not like i hang out in coffee shops on my laptop, always at home or in a hotel. Got an ipad for everything else 🤷

If you’re in a hotel room and get notification there’s an air tag moving with you, it’s pretty safe to assume it’s just in a room nearby? I pressed the option to make it sound and couldn’t hear anything.

When my old MacBook Pro went (lasted 7yrs), I got a M1 Mac mini. I never travelled with my computers so I figured I would change it up as I use my computer plugged into a monitor at home anyway.

Then I had a sudden trip across the ocean due to a death in the family and I was stuck on a 9hr flight with just my iPhone hating my life.

When I got back I sold the Mac mini and bought a MBP which is hooked up to 2x monitors 99% of the time… but in the 2yrs of ownership I have taken it with me on small trips or to even lounge in different parts of the house.

I understand iPads exist and I had them, but I found I never used them to justify the price due to their limitations.

Unless you’re completely ok with the iPad as a travel device, don’t do it.

i like the idea of the m4 mac mini, especially at $599. but as a "power" ipad pro user, i dont think id gain much outside of it being a vanity purchase. I already have all my computer needs filled between my iphone 15pm and my m4 ipad pro that i use with both the magic keyboard and docked to a 4k monitor.

I guess with the mac mini i would be bale to do a traditional dual monitor setup, or even use the ipad as a second monitor but then I loose the ipad itself as the device driving my activities.

Some good points man. I just feel like 99% of the time Im in my home or a hotel and I shouldn't sacrifice some large displays for when Im travelling and in transit. Maybe a smart idea would be get rid of the chunky 16" Pro and pick up a 13" 16gb Air and run it all off that. Forget the Mac Mini.

I bought this cool little IKEA desk with wheels that raises and lowers so I can move it around the apartment depending where I'm using it. Gonna pick up a thing that attaches underneath that I can rest my keyboard and stuff on.

In the end it depends on the person's lifestyle and what they value the most.

I am due for a new MacBook, I'm still currently using a mid-2012 MBA. Realistically the Mac Mini would be good for me but I move around a lot so in the end I'd probably end up with an M4 MB Pro. I do travel from time-to-time and adding an iPad would hold me down perfectly with the cellular models + getting a local data plan.

Damn thats a long time and love to hear it.

My 2014 regular MBP lasted to 2021. 7 years and it was still working “ok” I just wanted something new.

16” seemed too big so I settled on the 14”. Hopefully you find what works for you.

My current setup at home is:

M2 MBP hooked up to 2x 27” monitors.

2014 (I think) Mac Mini that I paid $100 for earlier this year as a server on my network. It runs headless (no monitor) connected to the router and I control it remotely using my MBP or iPhone. I have an external hard drive attached to it which hosts my Time Machine backup plus a Plex media server for movies/TV shows.

It’s a simple setup that works for me. If I need something off my external I just drag and drop using the MBP. It takes a little longer than normal to move files around but I’m not bothered by it at all as that’s rare anyway.

I’m currently using a 2017 12” MacBook. 16gb ram and 512gb ssd. It’s been a good little machine but I’m ready to get a 16” Pro again.
