I've gotten used to staycations. And I actually like them more and more. I'd go to AC, NYC, Poconos whatever for three quick and random weekends. Feels great.
Where do you live? Those sound like weekend trips, not staycations. I thought Staycation are when you do stuff close by to your house.
Anyway I agree that people need to take their leisure time more serious and take weekends trips like you're doing.
But people still need to be taking extended vacations, nothing recharges the batteries like not having to worry about a damb thing for 9 days.
The hell with that! I make sure I take 7 weeks of vacation every year! Even if I have NOTHING to do!
This happens a lot from my corporate bothers, and god forbid if they don't have kids.
instead of people not taking vacation because they can't go anywhere, the issue (as i see it) are people being intimidated/shamed by management if they request it...

I have 3 weeks left and lose them at the end of the year.
There is no way I will be able to take them.
Every time I request days off I am met with intimidation, shame, questioning of my work ethic and the phrase "if your REALLY think you need to?"
Couple that with there being no one to absorb my workload and taking a vacation is a burden.
Just writing this makes me sick of myself. But the reality is I've got bills a mortgage and a kid… I need my job.
7.39 is a lot.. how long you been at your current job?Heh. I never venture into General much, just happened to look on page 1 and saw this.
As of right now, I have 283 hours of PTO, or, 7 weeks.
I've already taken 3 vacations this year, still have 283.
I get 7.39 every two weeks. I could literally take a day off every two weeks all year, and barely make a dent in my 283. Would take me somewhere around 265, give or take a couple.
And my ceiling is 288, meaning I have to take a day off in the next week or so just to keep accruing.
We've all been fooled. We're overworked, underpaid, highly stressed, and own almost nothing.
Some get lucky, but for the most part, we kept selling out the worker to the boss for nothing but stress and fear.

Man they talking about the average American takes 16 days a year, Hell I only get 16 days a year and that includes sick time
With that said I'm definitely gonna squeeze in all my vacation days before the year ends. I only took one day from Jan to August (and that was to move) because I was tryna to be about that New employee, hard worker life. Man **** that, labor day came around an I felt like I was gonna cuss any and everybody out. Use your vacation time bros it ain't worth keeping it.
Damn son. The pay gotta be good or the other benefits or something. I got 30 days a year starting off. You can't even take a vacation if you get sick too often

I get needing a job but if I were in your shoes I would take the 3 weeks all at once, serious.
Your work provides them for a reason, they can find someone else to take up the workload. Talk to your boss and explain you really don't want to lose any vacation so you want to take it and you have been busting your *** all year and deserve it. They can't touch you for taking time they are giving you to take.
I don't see why I need a vacation when I haven't accomplished anything much. I will take a vacation once I set out on my goals and reach new plateau's and have completed a task and or objective I have set out.
This is a great mindset to have man, but you take vacations because they're a perk that you EARN. Everyone is entitled to a break that they earn, IMO.I don't see why I need a vacation when I haven't accomplished anything much.
