Man I don't even think Ron was in the wrong to this day. The second that fan threw the cup of beer on him he was fair game. He interjected on what wasgoing on on the floor and he got handled. Fans need to know that their place is in the stands, they can cheer for their team, yell profanities or whatever butwhen you cross the line and do something physical to a player you just put yourself in their world.

FOREVER %$#@ DETROIT

%$#@ BEN WALLACE AND HIS WHOLE FAMILY, ESPECIALLY HIS OVERGROWN BROTHER WHO ATTACKED FRED JONES FROM BEHIND LIKE A !%++@!

I WAS READY TO FIGHT THE WHOLE WORLD THAT NIGHT

That was Indiana's year to come out of the East if that never happened.

I remember watching it live. I was in absolute shock.

Exactly, man. Like, dude was trying to be cool, play ball (sure, he was playing hard, but still, he was just playing ball), then someone else (BigBen) chooses him and he tries to avoid an altercation.

Amd someone throws beer on him?

And then he gets crucified by millions of people that would absolutely NOT be cool with having beer thrown on THEM?

CP, there's no way you would be cool and collected with someone throwing freaking beer on you, my dude. Be real.

Ben is the one who escalated matters to the point where the fan thought it was the time and place to use pro athletes for target practice. You say "IfArtest doesn't go in the stands"; I say "If Ben doesn't start anything, then there isn't anything."

If Ben was just heated, but reasonable, then does Artest have anything to try to avoid? Does he end up on the scorer's table? Does the fan throw the beercup at a laying Artest?

No, no, and no.

I say if the fan never threw the beer this would have never happened...it would have eventually calmed down...NBA scuffles happen all the time, it just sohappens that this time a fan got involved

Ron Artest wans't wrong that night when I seen it and he isn't wrong now.

Game was a defensive battle, and I was half sleep on my couch. I woke up, and it's pure bedlam. Wow. Time flies.

I almost got into a scrap myself over this **$$. I was in HS at the time and a whole bunch of us were discussing it at lunch...the argument started escalatingand we were almost at the point of fighting over a fight.

Point blank...any coward #!! %%@%$ sitting comfortably from the stands that has the nerve to throw drinks at ANYONE deserves whatever comes to them. Especiallyall those bum %*!%! who were piling on drinks as the players were heading out..........oh boy.

I will NEVER fault Ron Artest for what he did.

Sucks I wasn't on NT at the time, I would have loved to see a few of y'all responses...

I can tell you right now, bro.

There are quite a few people in here right now like yourself, not faulting Ron for what he did.

But that night? THAT night? At the time it happened? It was like 3 on 400 in here regarding 'Ron wasn't in the wrong' vs. 'It was all onRon.'

Like, very, very, VERY few people supported Artest that night. There was a CRAAAZY amount of threads, so we were locking them left and right, but nearlyEVERYONE was crucifying Ron.

I was responding to thread after thread after thread like 'Are y'all SERIOUS?! Like some random dude can just throw beer on you RIGHT NOW and you'djust be chill about it?'

And people were steady responding like 'Hey, he has to know that he's a professional athlete' and 'Well he started the whole thing by trying torip Ben's arm off' and 'He has to just be calm no matter what.'

I was seriously in disbelief at the logic (or lack of it) that people were using to vilify my dude Artest.

yea.. that night on NT was crazy.... I almost got banned that night.. dudes were going in saying it was all Artest's fault and not Big Ben's.. I'mgetting upset just thinking about all of this

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was actually playing GTA:Vice City and when i turned it off, there was like 3 minutes left in the game...a fewminutes later, all hell broke loose.

I actually was watching vids of it today. Crazy stuff.

Yep. It was so random and unjustified, plus he slid in for the punch.

Honestly, ska...I'm not surprised. It was like that where I'm at too.

A lot of funny type things were being said at that time...

Like they're robots or some %%%@.

Too many people look at these guys on TV (not just athletes, celebrities in general) and think thatjust because they've reached that "status" they're not supposed to react like every other normal human being on the planet. It'sridiculous...

How was Ron Artest wrong you ask? How about he went into the stands and hit the wrong N'....how bout that

?

He had a right to be tight as hell about getting a beer thrown at him. But to sit up and act like it wasnt OD to run up in the stands and start fighting randomdudes, c'mon son.

Ben Wallace brother was putting in work tho. I felt worse for Fred Jones than anybody in the situation. He really had good intentions going up there, and gotlit up....

I remember them saying locally that the incident sparked the most incoming & outgoing calls in the city since 9/11....the coverage that situation gotlocally was crazy.

I remember blaming Wallace simply because I hate anything that has to do with Detroit.

Like I said, I don't put the whole thing on Ron. I get all the stuff that was goin on. BUT, again, Ron was the one that was mixin it up withBen on the other end of the court. You don't see that in this vid posted in this thread. Ron was givin Ben @#$% leading up the events. Ben had just hadenough and came after him. You think just based off that one foul that Ben went crazy like that? No. Ben had had enough and finally said something. It hadbeen going on for a minute already.

So no, the whole fiasco was not all of Ron's fault, but Ron had been pushing and pushing Ben into starting something, and then it escalated. It may not beRon 98 percent, Ben 2 percent like the general public thinks, but it's not exactly 50/50 either.

Ben Wallace brother is a clown. That was crazy how all that garbage and liquids rained down on the Pacers. Ron Ron was averging 24.2 ppg coming in thatgame, and that Pacers team was a legit title contender.

I know the girl that was cussing Ron out when he was running in the stands, she said she was scared as hell that he was about to snatch her lil %%! up. Shesaid that she literally saw the devil in his eyes
