24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

I submitted an extended warranty claim with Amex for the first time cause my LG G Watch R had some dead pixels on it. Put on the claim that I can send photos of the dead pixels and a copy of the invoice. They got back to me the next day and ain't eem ask for any further info. Already credited me the full price I paid. And I get to keep the watch. Kinda wild they don't ask for any evidence. I don't eem have the Platinum or anything. Just the blue cash everyday.

Asked on the last page but didn't receive an answer...

What is the Venmo trick with the CSR?
Sorry. Meant to respond but been busy this week.

AMEX had a promo back in late Nov - early Dec that let you buy gift cards with no fee. When you register it on Venmo it comes up as a debit card so no fee. Send it to a friend/family you trust and have them give you cash once it goes through.

It's just one of the ways to help peeps in churning. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to get my credit score up back in the day :nerd:

Thanks for the response. I don't think I'll have trouble hitting $4k in 3 months but it's good to know in case I fall short. I'll probably see where I'm at after 2 months and pay the rest eating the fee.

One more question... Are you required to pay off the first $4k before getting the sign up bonus? Or as long as you spend $4k you're good?

kind of the reason some businesses dont accept amex

Thought Amex would be strict as hell

Wanted to cop a new MacBook with my Amex but didn't wanna go through BS if something happened to it

Don't some cover theft as well? Maybe not Amex but other cards

It goes both ways. It's probably a factor to some degree that merchants don't accept amex for that reason, but as a consumer it's also nice to know that when you do use Amex that they back you up and take your side for being a card member. I think Amex has a better reputation compare to other credit card lenders in terms of  handling chargebacks, disputes, purchase protection, etc. I wouldn't abuse it but it's nice to know its there if a problem ever arises.

I need help disputing debts and negotiating pay for deletes. I know it's been discussed in the past but anyone have a guide I could use for the process?

Discover is offering 0% APR on new purchases for 12 months for current members.

Chat with them on the app, and ask if there are any promo deals for current members. They will transfer you to an APR specialist, who will offer you the deal.

Repped for the info. Tried but there was no 0% offer on my account. They did lower my apr to 18.74% though. Seems like the 0% offer is account specific. Not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I just got off of my initial 0% interest period in november.

I'm jealous as hell. I got the lowest possible interest rate with Discover (11.24%) but they won't give me a CLI without a hard pull. Maybe that will change in April when year 1 is up or maybe I just missed the boat when they were giving them away like candy.

Yall really worried about APRs when it shouldn't matter as long as you pay your statements in full every month? Whether it's 10% or 25%, the credit card game is pointless if you're paying interest.

Does anyone ever run into issues with discover accepting charges? Just happened & my limit is nowhere near reached. It only happened once before but since then I've been paranoid & quite frankly annoyed bc if I want to use my card I should have no issue doing so, especially since this company is making money off of me.

What are these charges? Are you out of state?

No I'm not out of state. It finishline. I literally placed an order with the same card last month. Finishline is blaming discover, they are blaming finishline. I just said whatever :rolleyes

Would you guys take a lower overall APR or the 0% 12 month promotion?

I shoulda put YMMV, i read about it just browsing slickdeals. People who weren't getting the deal got an offer to lower their current APR, that's why i chatted w/ them, i wanted them to lower my APR just cause, even tho i PIF, but i have the lowest APR they currently offer. Rep pushed me to take the 0 APR, because i haven't used my DC in a year. Hoping 'll purchase some big **** and let it sit for 12 months so they can make money off the kid.

Check your account, you might have set a purchase limit. Where they'll deny or try to contact to you about a purchase that tried to make that's over the set purchase limit.
