2023 MLB Thread; Say Hey, Charlie Hustle: Rest In Power, Willie. RIP, Pete.

USA Today had a pretty interesting feature today about current MLB contracts, and San Diego leads all of MLB with $845.9 million guaranteed money in salaries due 2022 and beyond.

Miami, Pittsburgh and Cleveland combined are at $12.9 million in salaries 2022 and beyond.

It's but one factor, and future contract obligations don't tell all of the story of course, but this league has got to get this straightened out if this sport is going to have any sort of popularity close to NBA and NFL in next generations.

Every year we play, half the league has throw in the towel and tells their fanbase they have little to no chance to do anything.
Because teams are making money regardless. Why invest major when the return may not be as high of a return? All this BS that “teams are losing money” across the major sports organizations is BS. You mean to tell me you’re gonna lose millions and millions of dollars a year but continue to run a business? Yea, sure.

Underrated catcher in Caratini. He was a throw in player in the Darvish trade between the Cubs & Padres

Nats sold their soul for a ring in 2019. The Eaton trade and Corbin signing will cripple them long term. Neglecting to resign Rendon. Letting Harper walk. So many poor decisions. They’re going to be left with Soto and nobody else.

It was worth it.
