after years of hearing about people talk about analytics being used in the NBA, it's clear 10 outta 9 people have no idea what analytics mean. i think we need to start a campaign that the US needs to find a way to make statistics a requirement in HS.

James Wiseman and apparently looking at Dwert as well.

German Rondo > CP0 for the Show

dwight's antics are irritating as hell but if the dubs made Javale look serviceable, i can't imagine what they'd do for dwight. he'd eat off that 1-5 and 4-5 PnR with Steph/Dray.

he cleaned the offensive glass nicely for the lakers in the playoffs and ate off put backs. that's the warriors' wet dream

Like any numbers, it's hard for most people to parse out the valuable data. There's just so much data being tracked now and a lot of it is just noise.

The real issue I have is analysts or experts who are either 100% eye test guys or 100% analytics. Like anything else, analytics is a tool and shouldn't be used as the sole measure of a player. Context matters, the things you're seeing with your eyes matter. They're legit guys who don't watch basketball games and just look at numbers and say "this player is better than that player"

1000% this. You have to know what you're looking at eye test wise, then use data. A couple of the Harvard guys who helped analytics get to where it is today would note that with their papers. But some people throw up some stats and think that tells the whole story and it almost never does. And that's not even getting into how stats are collected, the lack of knowing what coaches are instructing players to do, and so on.

What’s the likelihood of the dubs reaching out to serge?

if serge is willing to play on a mid level exception contract, warriors should kick the tires on him. perfect for what they need at both ends of the court. but i doubt he's willing to take that kind of pay cut. a 4/5 at age 31, this is probably his last chance to get $10M+ contract

honestly, i didn't make the statement to take shots at people's basketball knowledge or not using analytics to better understand the game of basketball. that statement was made more so in terms of the betterment of society lol. i think statistics is one of the most important/useful areas for an individual & based off of people understanding of it in relations to the NBA shows me many people lack in that area.
