2019-20 NFL thread: Thread's dead. Move into spacedoodoo's

The market will always be there for an above average/good QB

Half these teams aint that settled into their QBs of the future.

Time's ticking on their jobs (GMs) these days

The 30 mil a year market for a QB that ain't a cracked 4k yards yet?

If I'm the cowboys I tell dude find that team.

I’m not saying zeke isn’t valuable.. but the cowboys have dug themselves a hole of jerry’s making

Not really. Not yet. The strength of Dallas shifted on a dime to the defense. Thats a very good unit. An above average Oline despite this and that, top 15 WR with top 10 talent and a top 3 RB. I can agree that paying an RB is a slippery slope, but the hole won't be dug until they have to pay all 3 offensive guys, but right now, they allowed themselves leverage because they have a very solid all around team.

Only takes 1, see Jacksonville

I'd still be inclined to let his contract play out and let the market determine his value. Maybe you can get him back at a reduced rate, play the franchise tag game or someone like Detroit releases Stafford and you can get him for less than what Dak commands.

The following players are entering their final seasons with the team: dak, amari, jaylon smith and Byron smith

With zeke eligible for an extension

And they just paid Demarcus Lawrence

Washington traded for Alex smith and then paid him 20 something mill per.. Jacksonville was bidding against Jacksonville and paid nick foles 20 something mill per

I'm just saying that their reticence to pay Dak early and now Zeke means they're at least conscience of the decisions ahead of them.

And I agree with the sentiment of others about Daks command in the market probably not being what he's hoping for, so while he'll get paid, there's a chance Dallas can pay him an amount that allows more wiggle room for others.

When you draft well in consecutive drafts going on 3/4 years or so and trade a 1st for a top player you'll be confronted with this...cant pay them all what they want. They still have a **** ton of talent.

And that's two less teams in the market for a qb. Also 10 mil less than what Dak's extension would cost. I'm not saying there wouldn't be interest in Dak, I just think at 30 mil the Cowboys would be outbidding themselves.

The 30 # feels arbritrary given the cap is always growing.

The going rate for positions is always spiking especially at QB. It is what it is with the cap

We see how desperate teams are every year for a QB. You really don't think half the league wouldnt pony up cash for a guy with Dak's track record

Most these teams waste alot more money for way less value than that

I aint saying you gotta believe Dak deserves it but as the saying goes.

Deserve got nothing to do with it

If you draft well.. gotta pay your guys and pay your guys early, or end up in situations like theirs

But that’s why I love jerry, instead of being proactive and paying early and getting a discount while working the numbers to spread out the cap hits and also get a discount in a sense

Dude would rather wait and then he back loads and screws his cap on the backend, so you end up losing quality guys before you should because of mismanaging the cap

Paying guys early doesn't always work out either...2 years down the road, they'll hold out for a re-negotiation, asking for the current market rate.

Possible, but really.. to me, they should have done it with dak just from an asset perspective.. they could have flipped him to another team for more than a 3rd and let them deal with what they want to do

But if they let this year play out, cap goes up again and were couple years removed from Kirk getting 28 so 30 would have looked reasonable.. you got broncos/elway looking for another Peyton replacement, then teams with old QBs who could fall off or raiders and Tampa

Dak is perfect for this Dallas team though. You can find more talented guys than Dak, but it's going to be hard to find such a perfect fit.

I don't even know what track record Dak got.

Dudes like Cousins can fool teams cuz they put up empty stats, Dak don't even have that. I guess he can talk that "I stand for the flag, Ima good boy" stuff that had made him likeable to the media. Maybe that would get him 30 a year. I would still let him find that team.

Problem was oline went from a excellent and then it lost 40% of it.. those 3 guys are still all pros, problem is the drop off to backups and the other 2 spots

Easier to replace zeke than those 3 guys

Tyron smith is their best offensive player, pretty sure they’re winless without him or were that year when zeke was suspended

Your tripping if you think you can just up and replace Zeke like that :lol

Man , Dak better take nothing less than 30 mil.

I know dude is mid, but ill advocate for a player getting the bag.

Plus Dak is a 4 round pick. Dude never really got paid.

Zeke should also get paid but he's been more than fine financially speaking as soon as he stepped in the league.

Elway would sign him for double based off that tbh

But he does has the track of an above avg to good qb so far in his career as a starter. You dont need to be anymore than that to collect a bag

And Kirk didn't fool anyone mane, we all knew what it was... Vikes fans dont count. I fooled myself into believing in Matt Flynn on the Hawks with far less

I'm just saying..the market is always there at QB, and it'll always be that way. We watch teams panic every year man, crash and burn and reaching for new hope. A handful of teams will be there waiting in 2020

I don't even think Vikings fans were overly excited about Kirk getting signed either though. @Hahahaha predicted that **** before I even figured it a possibility....Then, it happened. But we was movin' from Bradford to Keenum to either of those 2 as potential starters, so Kirk seemed to be, at the very least, a level competitor to those two, just with more perceived upside.

I did get hype as heck though after they played the Packers in week 2 when he made some crazy *** throws that everyone had to agree on.
