2019-20 NFL thread: Thread's dead. Move into spacedoodoo's

I'm almost certain there's dudes in NFL locker rooms that have never even spoken to one another.

Easily.. even in high school there were dudes and coaches I hardly had anything to do with, so gotta assume worse in college and pros

You spend the most time with your position group and coaches.. and then your side of the ball

Well they do have their own players association in the NFLPA, that’s their organization method.

It just comes down to the reality of the situation. You’re simply not going to get over 1,000 players to all buy into one way of going about things. Especially when these players go out there every week to tear each other’s heads off.

NFL guys couldn’t even support something so minute as kneeling for the anthem. You think they’re going to somehow get together to discuss wages? Doubt it.

And the NFLPA is a mess. :lol

I never said NFL players was gonna get together and agree about wages. That's my whole point. It's too many c**ns and dudes that's scared for enough of them to be organized. You keep saying "well too many NFL players...". It's bigger than that.

Amongst the black NFL players that make big money they still have that "be a good boy" mentality. Ain't no reason for Cam Newton to be tap dancing as hard as he does. Even that Players Coalition that was supposed to stand for something was unorganized and doing **** behind each others back. That don't happen in the NBA. When one of them stand on something 10, 20, 30 ,50 of 'em will stand on it too. NFL players simply haven't used their power wisely because their mentality is stuck in thinking they're property.

AJ always seems to get the worse luck :smh::smh:

Hoping it's not as bad as it sounds and that he can recover in time for the season :ohwell:

IMO the NFL should get rid of the salary cap. SPECIFICALLY because the rosters are so big. In the NBA, a salary cap makes sense. The NFLPA should use the no salary cap ploy. Because rosters are bigger, it’ll allow for wayyyyyyyy more earning power. The other sports leagues, salary caps make sense.

And NFL salary cap makes no sense, IMO

I think there should be a luxury tax threshold sort of thing, sure you can spend whatever you want but as soon as you go over X amount it’ll really cost ya.. and then have a repeater penalty

But I’d argue as far as contracts go in comparison to the NBA, the nba having a defined max and other set contract highs doesn’t make sense to me.. we know the impact a single player can have in that sport, so should be allowed to pay them whatever to get their services

Went to a Niner training camp when I was like 12 or 13 years old.

This was before the major cuts so there was mad players. When they were done with one of their sessions they came to the sideline for pics and sigs.

Only players of note to me back then were Vernon Davis, Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Patrick Willis and Staley.

I didn’t care though I just wanted signatures from anybody I could. Got a signature from some random Olinemen and one of the older kids I was with asked him the name of another player so that we could call him and get his signature too.

Man said something along the lines of “how the **** should I know”

cheap owners still gonna be cheap. Plus rich owners will hoard all the good players. NFL just needs fully guaranteed contracts.

I learned real quick why certain coaches only called me by number, Bahamas or kid from the Bahamas or Bahamian kid or some other dumb sh.. cause on offense I would only run couple snaps and I’m pretty sure none of them dudes really knew my name

Yea I can believe not everyone on a NFL roster know each other. Hell im all sure we got coworkers who we still don’t know there name

geez how big was your team lol

My HS team had like 50-60 players.

Keep in mind I’m in NYC and my high school housed 4,000+ students.

we had 30 tops less than that towards the end when those grades came out lol

Nah.. we had dudes pumping money into the school and paying for kids school fees to go to the school to play football and shh

Hell most teams we knew would be a joke just because we had legit big dudes to play on both sides our our lines.. like I can only laugh at one of my boys down here because he’s like my size and he played LB for his school up in Canada and I’m like I was small for a damn CB at my school (was like 150 Lbs when I started then was up to 175-180 after a year)

There's a lot of good black players that are highly paid but don't tap dance. The player coalition failed because they couldn't come to an agreement on what exactly they wanted to do. Both Eric Reid and Jenkins had good ideas.. Booker T Washington vs. Dubois type argument.

I hear you on the Newton situation, but that's just who he is now. And i'm not exactly sure what you're advocating for these black players to do in terms of using their power. Their power is limited, considering that the owners have to be the ones to sign off on almost anything they want to do..

The NBA is a different set of circumstances. Those players have been associated and playing with one another since grade school and AAU.. And they haven't been trying to physically kill one another on the court

The average NBA player is black and more than likely leans left. Of course they can get along and stand together on issues. NFL is nothing like that

Everybody on my team had a nickname
Fax.

If you were lucky you got a fire nickname. We had a Thunder, and man wasn’t even all that. He got that name after a one off play

We a had a clutch too.

If you were unlucky though .... we had a crazy legs cause kid was bow legged.:smh:

no salary cap and the big market teams and the teams with new stadiums sign all the good players.......there are teams that are making major money but small market team like green bay didnt even clear a million in profit as is........since they are public you can look at their balance sheet. worth a look......

i think a good move would be each year a team gets to cut any player and it does not count against the cap.....doing this would allow the bigger stars to get close to fully guaranteed contacts.

the star players need to start demanding not only these high signing bonus but contacts that are mostly guaranteed. if a star signs a 5 year contact, how about year 4 is 50% guaranteed and year 5 not guaranteed.

raising the salary cap and cap floor would be helpful.
changes are coming, in the next 8 years revenue is expected to jump from 15B-25B

i want to see players get more guaranteed $ and owners be able to get out of those contacts when players under perform or get hurt.
