2018 BET Awards Thread June 24th

reasonable doubt wasn’t the instant classic people think it was upon release. Jay z pushed that agenda for a while (and still does) till it caught on. and gold wasn’t **** back then when everybody was going 2x plat.

Who were all these artist going two times platinum?

and why did Def Jam pick him up?

Fugees, nas, pac all went double plat the rest went plat. Plat is plat and jay z didn’t go plat with RD for 6 years cause it just wasn’t important or as great as jay z makes it seem.

But only upper tier rappers were going platinum. So how was it not that great?

Nas was coming off an industry flop illmatic he wasn’t top tier till after that album (mainstream wise) you moving the goal post now. RD just didn’t have the impact Jay-Z makes ya believe it did.

You're the one who said everyone was going double

Illmatic did the same as Reasonable Doubt. It went gold initially. How did it flop when Columbia was even more committed to Nas, and had Lauryn on his first single for his next project and a big budget video?

If he would have flopped he would have been dropped. Big L flopped, and got dropped by Columbia. Going gold was not a failure in the mid 90's.

Only 4 Cuban Linx, gold
Hell On Earth went gold

I lived during Reasonable Doubt, I know the impact it had. Just like I know the impact Illmatic had.

So because The Infamous didn't go double platinum it didn't have impact?

 Its gone over ya head.

Slow as ****.

This is true.

Dude just being bitter and arguing anything his poor memory doesn't recall or agree with.

I knew from jump you had no clue what you were talking about.

Illmatic a flop

You definitely weren't outside in 94

For all your **** talking and nonsensical lies you yell about me its amazing how much you value my opinion and ride my meat.

No excuse for it so save it. Might as well get back to being pathetic again

See now we simply talking about sales and I figured #s were just as confusing to you as words so this is no surprise.

Nobody is talking about the critical reception to Illmatic.

Value your opinion? I hate to break it to you, but I think you're a moron and a liar. That's why you keep projecting. You can't hide your conscience.

Gold was flopping in the 90's  Is that why your precious Source magazine published gold certifications as if it was an accomplishment. Is that why you get a plaque for a gold album :smh:

Value your opinion?
Bruh you cant help yourself.

You'll quote me again tomorrow and the day after that.

You a ******* loser b :lol

You've strayed so far away despite your Ls, you just desperate to quote me about anything to make yourself feel better. That **** is wild sad.

Given your limitations, this is obviously not going to change. Smarten up.

I quote you, because I like tap dancing on your skull. Your lies, corny insults out of frustration, dodging of questions and ******** excuses you come up with are amusing. It's like the elephant who allows the fly to exist.

Feel better? Do you think you're a good enough liar to fool anyone that you know what you're talking about? Do you think you're intelligent or creative enough to fool anyone?

I quote you, because I like tap dancing

giphy.webp
Yup.

Thats on point.

So yeah, keep going

I'm a big jay fan but you making ish up if you think RD had ANY impact upon release. Hell to keep it 100, people knew his single "Ain't No N" from being off the Nutty Professor soundtrack rather than Reasonable Doubt at that time. Yes, I lived through that time too in case you trying to question.

Reasonable doubt was ok to me, not the classic they try to make it out to be. It's smooth and it's not bad, but I'm not crazy about it.

All I remember popping in 96 was 2pac and fugees.

I knew from jump you had no clue what you were talking about.

Illmatic a flop

You definitely weren't outside in 94

The streets and charts are 2 different things. Illmatic flopped. No singles charted and sales were low. Let the streets tell it and jada would be diamond

It had zero impact upon release zero. Magic thinks cause he heard it through his project window playing outside on his block through a beat up boom box everybody was riding with it.
