He can do a trade an extend to get maximum bird rights in a few years and up his salary to 26 million this year if it's done before the season.
Due to the cap now being projected lower than expected meant teams have screwed themselves with cap space for next summer. I think only the Sixers and the Clippers (if Blake and CP0 leave) can bring in close to two max guys now.
Outside of the Spurs who don't have anything to offer OKC who is in a position to contend that will have cap space next summer? The Knicks? Miami is in the same position if not worse than us.
Russ does hold all the cards really though. He can maneuver where he wants to be.

Crucial year for Philly man. Most important season in a long time. If they can convince vets that the young guys on this team has "IT" they can convince stars to sign next year since the cap looks to screw many teams that already have huge contracts tied up already. Simmons, Saric, Embiid and Noel/Jah is a Incredible young core man.

They're doing what the Lakers should have done. Just offer overpays on 1 year deals to vets and try again next summer. I read somewhere yesterday where they offered Crawford 1 year 25 million.

No rumor emphasis on RUMOR is Stevens is going to IU to be groomed to take over for Creen. And signing press conferences are usually labeled as such, but they called this a major team announcement.
