I'm only taking 1997-2003 since those were the years you can truly consider Nomar Garciaparra as being "great". Injuries began to take it's toll starting in 2004.

Jeter has obviously had the better career overall, but he wasn't touching Nomar during that six season stretch, except for Yankee fans, :lol.

Nomar

1997 .306 (BA)/.342 (OBP)/.875 (OPS)/.534(SLG)/30 (HR)/98(RBI)/22 (SB)/6.6 (WAR)
1998 .323/.362/.946/.584/35/122/12/7.1
1999 .357/.418/1.022/.603/27/104/14/7.2
2000 .372/.434/1.033/.599/21/96/5/6.6
2001 Injury plagued year, only played 22 games
2002 .310/.352/.870/.528/24/120/5/6.8
2003 .301/.345/.842/.524/28/105/19/6.1

1998-2001- :{, ridiculous, created player type stats. Batting titles in 1999 and 2000.

Jeter
1997 .291/.370/.405/.775/10/70/23/4.9
1998 .324/.384/.481/.864/19/84/30/7.5
1999 ..349/.438/.552/.989/24/102/19/8.0
2000 .339/.416/.481/.896/15/73/22/4.6
2001 .311/.377/.480/.858/21/74/27/5.1
2002 .297/.373/.421/.794/18/75/32/3.7
2003 .324/.393/.450/.844/10/52/11/3.5

Consistent, with a whopping 8.0 WAR in 1999.

One guy was around juicers (David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez and Jose Canseco) and the other guy has never been accused of steroids........

So the Yankees had no one juicing, :lol :lol Do some quick research, and no I'm not saying Jeter juiced but using this as a premise for Nomar is ridiculous.

I've always believed he took steroids. Little guy one day, buff guy the next. Turned into a power hitter one day. Then started getting hurt ALL the time like my boy Alex mean.gif

Jeter's power numbers jumped for a bit as well, many factors had to do with that, not just steroids. It was the "live ball" era for many reasons, get past the steroids. That pic is deceiving since Nomar wasn't really a "buff" guy, more of a "fit" guy.

Nomar might have had 4-5 better years but Jeter led a team for almost 20 years. Nomar was flashy and gaudy (juice does that) and Jeter was clutch and consistent.

We're just talking numbers here, plus as many BoSox fans would tell you, Jeter benefitted from having the Evil Empire behind him. Sure the Phillies, Mets, Dodgers, Red Sox, etc. have crept closer to Yankee territory in terms of payroll, but at the turn of the century, the Yankees stood alone. They took the Mr. Burns All Stars mentality and ran with it.

But to the people that are saying Nomar was so much better those few years, are you guys adding the likeliness of steroids or you think he was clean?

^ his name was never leaked or his name hasn't been questioned plenty of times? His name has always been questioned. We don't know if his name was on that list or not

:{

Not at all. I always liked Nomar even though he was with the Sox. Just like I always respected Manny Ramirez :x

Nomar was damn good and that was a good era for SSs. I'm just saying, his name was questioned about steroids plenty of times so I was wondering if you guys are acknowledging that or you guys thought he was clean. Cleary, some of you think he was clean :lol

Cliff Lee on that IDGAF

That stoneface was gold

The best part was the camera guy held it on him thinking Cliff didn't realize the camera was on him
