Elfrid, Gordon, and whoever they can realistically add in FA wont add 20-25 wins to that roster.

Soon though, just not yet.

If I'm Rick Carlisle...I'd put in the word to everyone else it's green light on Jason Kidd from now on.

Leave the starters in at the end of blowouts, shoot 3's late in the game w/ shot clock expiring, call all your timeouts before it's over, etc.

No coaches handshake at the end. Just chunk up the deuce in his direction and dip out.

Straight flex on that *****.

So essentially he's staying in Miami?
Not scheduling meetings wont stop people from going after him.

True, but if true, it sends a pretty strong message about what his preference is. Miami is the only team that can give him truly max deal in terms of dollars and years. Basically, the way I see it, barring something getting majorly !@#$ed up in the negotiations, he's sticking with the Heat.

As a GA native, I've been to MANY Hawks games, and seen Josh Smith play the 3. He could be a Top 3 SF & All-Star, but the muthaf***er can hit a jump shot for sh*t!!!! He is effective 4, but he doesn't play it with a passion. In GA, we called him the "poor man's LeBron." He can do do everything LeBron can, but can't shoot and play with aggression (something he picked up from his running mate Joe Johnson). Josh Smith whole career is a carbon copy of LeBron rookie season.

Yeah but only 3 teams have enough space to pay him the max...Miami, Phoenix, and LA. Why even bother calling if you aren't one of those 3.

Lebron definitely deserves a max deal, but to pay him the max and sign Bosh and Wade would probably give the Heat a worse roster than they had last year. Either James is gonna give Miami a discount or this is a low key way of getting rid of Bosh, Wade, both.

1st time watching one of these. Woj is 10000000000% on point about guys devaluing themselves by taking these paycuts and how nba players are the most underpaid relative to the revenue they generate

Same thing I thought. You complain so much about how the owners are "stealing" from you, but then you are going to take less money. Yesterday on Sports Reporters, Mike Lupica said Donald Fehr would've blew a gasket at players taking less money.

From the espn article: "Currently seven teams have the cap space to offer James a deal starting at $22.2 million next season: the Heat, the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns, the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic."

I assume Dallas comes off of that list when they sign dirk.

I wouldn't call him a poor man's Lebron but you hit it right on the head. Josh's problem is Josh. He looks in the mirror and sees Lebron...when his reflection should be Horace Grant, Bison Dele, Adrian Dantley...

If dude would realize that he can't shoot and stayed his a** in the paint on offense and defense he'd be dominant and a allstar year in and year out IMO. He could be a ferocious rebounder and shot blocker and if he gets two feet in the paint he can score. Mike Woodson is the only coach who almost convinced him of that.

JVG has talked about this before, you just don't even discuss a head coaching position if it isn't vacant.

You don't scheme on another head coach's job. Save the corporate America argument. NBA coaches are a fraternity of 30.

Yall are really mad at Kidd?

I think it's shady and a bad way to start your career. You don't steal another coach's job. I kind of thought the power grab was funny in a "Where does this guy get off?" kind of way.. but I at least saw where he was coming from. He saw the payday the other coaches were getting, he didn't like King's moves and decisions, so go for it all.. I get it and can't knock the hustle. But I would have laughed him out of the room if he wanted full control. You're still a rookie coach, fresh off playing, you don't have the pedigree to deserve that kind of faith or the track record to warrant it.

Zach Lowe breaks it down really well here http://grantland.com/the-triangle/g...e-jason-kidd-mess-has-a-144-million-pricetag/

The power grab is one thing.. it doesn't make you look good to try to screw over your GM, but going after an existing coach's job? Not cool. It's not as if Kidd has the power like Pop or Doc or even SVG.. if he strikes out with the Bucks, he might not get another head coaching job immediately. If you're a head coach, would you really want to invite Kidd to be an assistant on your bench? If you're a GM, do you want to work with a guy who tried to seize power from his old team? If Kidd starts racking up deep playoff runs and reinvents the modern NBA offense or something then yeah :lol he can get away with this.

All of that aside.. I'm only "mad" at him over going after another coach's job. The rest you can chalk it up to Kidd being power hungry, ego-driven, seizing an opportunity, whatever.. but the way he got the job isn't cool with me.

+1

But, while I'm not "mad" about it, I do think his power play with the Nets was laughable considering he was on the verge of getting fired last season and, while he turned it around somewhat, the team still failed to meet expectations in a historically bad conference.
