2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

They don't have **** on us, there's a reason why this investigation took over two years. We'll get another ban and a couple schollys AT MOST.

It's definitely not going to be as bad as the whole world thinks it's going to be. And it's not going to be as light as every Cane fan is saying it's going to be either.

Our QB recruit, Zach Allen, decommitted yesterday and will attend TCU instead. Cited the instability and uncertainty caused by Marrone's departure as the reason. Scott Shafer has one hell of a job on his hands because its been made a hell of a lot harder because of Doug.

Bill Young, 66, said he was told by Gundy in February [2012] that college football is a young man's game "and I was the face of the defense and he thought my age would hurt recruiting and he thought players wouldn't play for me."

Young said he thought that was "nowhere near right." He expressed those feelings to Gundy and they agreed to disagree. The result? It was determined the 2012 season would be Young's last.

"We had a good discussion," Young said, adding that he is not mad at Gundy. "I told him if he wouldn't mind, please don't put this (information) out there until I have time to finish the season and look for a new job. He agreed to that. He was very accommodating and was trying to help. It's easier to get a job in this business if you have got one."

Pachall has returned to TCU after seeking treatment

Former TCU quarterback Casey Pachall is back on campus and will begin classes Monday, according to his father and coach Gary Patterson.

Pachall, who left school to seek treatment for substance abuse after an October arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, moved back to Fort Worth on Friday.

Patterson said Pachall took part in team meetings Sunday.

"He looks great," Patterson said. "It's like he looked when he was a freshman. Right now, we feel really good about this. It's never going to be 100 percent perfect but there is a chance we did the right thing and made a difference. You've got to understand, everybody is going to be watching on this."

Stan Pachall said by email that Casey finished his out-patient treatment Thursday in Austin, where he was living with his sister.

"He did everything we wanted him to do," Patterson said.

Stan Pachall said by email that he did not want to comment on his son returning to TCU until it was official but was thankful for the support Casey received.

"Some people are just haters and want to see people fail," Stan Pachall said. "To the haters, I hope that they never have anyone close to them that suffers from addiction of any substance. And to the people that support and have prayed for Casey's recovery - thank you."

Pachall will begin working out with the team Monday and will likely be given a chance to earn the starting job, which Trevone Boykin filled when Pachall left after the Horned Frogs' fourth game. Pachall will be a senior in 2013.

Pachall has not lifted weights or thrown a ball in several months, Patterson said.

Father too old to be talking about haters. His son has bad judgment and has put it on display for the world to see on more than one occasion. Its not wanting to see someone fail more so waiting to see when he will mess up again.

Glad Pachall is back. Hopefully he can keep his head on straight. Boykin wasnt the answer.

Re: Miami

Not getting the death Penalty. Someone I spoke with that has covered the entire situations told me one more bowl ban and anywhere from 10-15 scholarship losses a year for three years.

Who really knows at this point but I'd imagine that more details will be trickling out of there soon

John Swofford and the ACC are considering their own television network. (US Presswire)
The Big Ten has one, the Pac-12 has one and the SEC is working on getting one of its own. Could the ACC become the next conference to have its own television network? Word is the conference is considering it.

According to the SportsBusiness Journal, the ACC and its athletic directors are considering the idea.
While its media rights are tied up with ESPN for the next 15 years, that hasn't stopped the conference from beginning the process of deciding whether such a channel is feasible. It hasn't had formal talks with ESPN, which would have to play a big role in any ACC channel since the network controls the league's rights.

But ACC Commissioner John Swofford has quietly been exploring a branded channel and began floating the idea for it in the fall, around the time that Notre Dame joined the league in all sports but football. The Fighting Irish have committed to play five ACC opponents in football each season, but it will maintain its independence.
The motivation behind the idea is money, obviously. Money that will help ensure the ACC stays together in its current form. After all, Maryland isn't leaving the ACC for the Big Ten in a few years of the Big Ten couldn't give the school more money, and with its own network the ACC would be trying to close the financial gap between it and the Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC.

Of course, just wanting to start your own network and actually doing so are two different things. As the snippet above mentions, ESPN owns the ACC's media rights for the next 15 years, and the ACC won't be starting a network of its own without the help of ESPN. According to the report, ESPN is currently "lukewarm" about the idea.

It's already working on starting the SEC's network in August 2014, and it isn't sure about starting another conference network that will share so many of the same markets as the SEC and ACC already do.
Pretty much expected.

Urban Meyer: “They’re on a need to know basis, and they don’t need to know”.

Urban Meyer has one simple philosophy when it comes to coaching – the world revolves around him, and what’s good for him is good for everybody. For this reason, he has diligently crafted and perfected a system of obscuring the truth from his players at all times.

“We are talking about 18 and 19 year old kids here”, said Meyer, “why in the world do they need to know what’s going on? These kids can barely spell their name on a piece of paper, and I’m going to confuse them with the complexities of my life and plans? Believe me, I have learned that when it comes to player development, ignorance is bliss.”

Meyer has used this simple philosophy to garner success both on and off the field. “Success starts at home”, said the two time national champion coach. “I have kept my family in the dark for years. They don’t know whether I’m coming or going. This freedom allows me to do whatever I want at all times and my family is not burdened with the truth – which can be damn uncomfortable, even painful at times.”

His players love the new system. “Coach tells us we play for Opaque State University”, said star quarterback Braxton Miller. “I don’t know what Opaque means, but I love saying it. Coach is so cool - sometimes he is gone for days and we don’t even know where he is. But when he gets back he always tells us to have faith in him – and wherever he was it was for our own good.”

Meyer has perfected the art of telling those around him what they want to hear - or need to hear - for two decades. Fans, fellow coaches, alumni, boosters and the like have been protected from the burdens of truth consistently throughout his stellar career.

“Some say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, said Meyer. “I say don’t let ‘em know it’s broke, and then they won’t worry about it”.

Simple untruths – from a simple man.

He was supposed to OV on the 25th but w/ the late offers/interest from LSU/Bama/Arky they moved it up to last weekend to try and lock him down and get him to commit. Seems like he is determined to take all his visits though. Still the leader in the clubhouse but things could change should he go through those visits. I think he stays in state and goes to FSU though.

It's gonna be interesting to see if MSU can keep Chris Jones from taking anymore visits. MSU is the only campus he's seen so far. He's had a crazy rise over these last couple months.
