Negative. Alabama continues to dominate.
Didn't realize his folks were with him, that wasn't anywhere in either of the stories I read about it (it's actually legal to drink underaged in most states if you have parent/guardian permission.)NOT illegally popping bottles, Nako. His parents were with him that night, and in Texas a minor can legally drink if a parent is with them. It's just up to the bar whether they want to serve the adult.
I think he needs to lay low and chill out for a little bit, but the kid is a 20 year old superstar just out having fun. As long as it doesn't affect his play, have fun.
GeorgiaPretty sure Georgia, USCe, and TAMU would've beat the breaks off of ND also and a lot of other schools
Saban said a few weeks ago on the radio that he isn't ruling it out in the future but that he's happy at Bama and feels like he's accomplishing something. As soon as Pres. Eric Barron signs the contract, Burton Burns (Bama RB coach) will be named as the new FSU RB coach. He also was @ Clemson when they had CJ Spiller & James Davis
Makes sense as to why this is just coming out today. Will be paid around 400k
Jimbo is full on in his quest to try and be Bama Jr. Except for missing the main ingredient.
Wonder if the rumors of Saban leaving for the NFL are really true?
So...
Were the South Carolina-Michigan & Clemson-LSU games the two best of the bowl season? Even though both were meaningless.
Meaningless? Easy for you to say.
The Palmetto State had TWO 11-2 teams this season, pretty impressive for one of the smallest states in the US.
South Carolina finished No. 8, its best ranking ever. The Outback win was faaaaaar from meaningless if you live down South.
Georgia
USCe
TAMU
Louisville
Clemson
FSU
Oregon
Stanford (with an actual QB now)
Kansas State
Ohio State
LSU
Hell I'd even give a chance to:
Utah State
Northwestern
Oregon State
Northern Illinois
USC (with Barkley)
ND at #4 in the final rankings is as embarrassing as their performance last night. That spot easily belongs to Georgia or TAMU
Bowl season wasn't memorable outside of the Clowney hit and Louisville upset. Half of these bowls need to go, but that will never happen. Just wishful thinking though.
Best, Worst of the 2012-13 Bowl Season
For the first time in 131 days, college football fans awoke on Tuesday morning with no more games in the immediate future. We will quickly move from the fireworks in South Florida to the recruiting trail, then on to national signing day and spring practice. But before we accelerate toward 2013, we will highlight the best and brightest from the bowl season. The honors are separated below into bowl games, team/individual performances and an assorted collection of accolades.
We look back at the best moments of the 2012-13 bowl season, which finished with Alabama's BCS title win. (US Presswire)
First, we need to get something out of the way. If we are giving out awards and honors for the 2012-13 bowl season, we need to begin with addressing the play of the year. One of the most brutal yet beautiful college football plays of the season, it was a moment that highlights both physical supremacy and also awareness on the highest level. As you can probably guess by now, I am talking about Jadeveon Clowney's hit on Michigan running back Vincent Smith in the Outback Bowl.
The intricacies of the play -- particularly occurring just after South Carolina was on the receiving of the bowl season's worst call; a first-down measurement with the ball a few links short -- make the entirety of the situation even more amazing. It was worse than football violence; it was violence with a purpose. Entire posts have been written about this play alone, and I suggest the interested reader check those out as well.
Rating the Bowls
Most Exciting Finish: New Mexico Bowl -- In the final 46 seconds, Arizona quarterback Matt Scott threw two touchdowns and the Wildcats recovered an onside kick to overcome a 45-28 fourth-quarter deficit to win 49-48.
Best Bowl for Naps: Sun Bowl -- A lot of wind and very little apparent motivation on the USC sideline made this a great game to ease into your New Year's Eve. Georgia Tech's ground attack is bruising on the field but easy on the eyes, churning clock and keeping scores low.
Biggest Upset: Sugar Bowl -- Once the game started, it was clear Louisville was unafraid of the one-loss Gators. Teddy Bridgewater and the Cardinals got a jump start on 2013 with a 33-23 win over Florida as two-touchdown underdogs.
Re-Watchable: Outback Bowl -- In addition to Clowney's hit, the game also featured a late touchdown drive to win and inspired play from both sides. Actually, I might run to the DVR now.
Un-Watchable: Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl -- UCF bounced back from a turnover-filled Conference USA Championship Game to impose its will on Ball State in a 38-17 win. The Cardinals' MAC-leading offense underperformed and was blown out by halftime, making the second half a struggle -- to play or watch.
Biggest Beatdown: Heart of Dallas Bowl -- Oklahoma State pulled out three of its quarterbacks during a 58-14 rout that was never close. The Cowboys scored touchdowns on four of their first six possessions, jumping out to a 45-0 lead before Purdue finally found the end zone in the final minute of the third quarter.
Team/Individual Honors
Best Offensive Performance (Team): Alabama -- The dismantling of the Notre Dame defense was a clinic in downfield blocking. The Tide totaled 524 total yards of offense on the Irish in the 42-14 win.
Best Defensive Performance (Team): Florida State -- The Seminoles' defense held the smack-talking Jordan Lynch to just 15-of-41 passing for 176 yards and only 44 yards rushing on 23 carries in the 31-10 win.
Best Offensive Performance (Individual): Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M -- Johnny Heisman set a Cotton Bowl record with 516 total offensive yards (287 yards passing, 229 yards rushing) as the Aggies ran through Oklahoma for a 41-13 win.
Best Defensive Performance (Individual): Margus Hunt, SMU defensive end -- The 6-foot-8 senior defensive end forced two fumbles and led a seven-sack attack from the Mustangs' defense on Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr.
Accolades, Etc.
Best Bowl Season Sponsorship Push: TaxSlayer.com -- The online tax filing service has gone "all-in" on the bowl season in recent years. In addition to hitching themselves to the sixth-oldest bowl game, the Gator Bowl, TaxSlayer.com also sponsored pregame and in-game content during ESPN bowl coverage. Getting in the minds of the average tax filing American in December and January is the marketing goal of all of these services, but few have targeted their demographic so narrowly.
Feel-Good Story of the Bowl Season: Antone Exum, Virginia Tech CB -- The Hokies' cornerback took the $470 Best Buy Gift Card from his Russell Athletic Bowl gift pack and spent it on three children from The Bahamas whom he met while in the store on Christmas Eve. The kids got a PS3, in addition to other electronics, but Exum's gift continued into the week. The Hokies' cornerback intercepted Gary Nova in the fourth quarter of the bowl game, setting up a game-tying touchdown to force overtime. After the Hokies' won 13-10 in extra time, Exum was selected as the game's Most Valuable Player. All around good week for the junior from Glen Allen, Va..
Mother Nature Award Winner: Pinstripe Bowl -- Snow in a bowl game is nothing new. But driving snow in Yankee Stadium during a football game is something unique. Syracuse, for the second time in three years, held court in the baseball stadium-turned-football stadium.
you been here long enough to know when most of us are joking and you dont need to come running to defend anything said about A&MNOT illegally popping bottles, Nako. His parents were with him that night, and in Texas a minor can legally drink if a parent is with them. It's just up to the bar whether they want to serve the adult.

Sources and documents obtained by Deadspin recount clashes between training staff and coaches over player safety, and physical—and nearly physical—altercations between coaches and players. They describe "dangerously excessive" workouts used as punishments, including an episode in which coaches supposedly sprayed players in the face with water from a hose while making them exercise in a sandpit in cold weather.
...
One "concerned parent" wrote in an email to university president that "some of the things that are going on with WSU are completely out of control." In another email, this one sent to the athletic department, someone wrote: "I played—I wouldn't have played for Leach."
That person added: "Sooner or later you're going to get sued over Leach." (Documents and emails referenced in the story are available at the bottom of this post.)
If I had to choose between living in Pullman, WA or waking up every day and being forced to do up-downs in a sandbox for 30 minutes while being sprayed by a fire hose, I'd take the fire hose.

Leach is an ***hole and a narcissist. Everyone knows that.
But... Wazzu's team are a bunch of *******. It sounds like he's trying to toughen them up. He might be going overboard, but a lot of programs around the country tread that fine line between grueling and excessively dangerous practice methods. Leach just curses at you while you're doing it.
Leach also described the offensive line play as "one of the most heartless efforts up front I've ever seen." According to a different email to the university from the same parent, outside linebackers coach Paul Volero got into an altercation with two offensive linemen in the locker room during the game.
"I just got phone call from parents that stated Coach Volero struck players to include Wade Jacobson and John Fullerton over the weekend," wrote the parent. "With that being said I expect an investigation to be done. You do not want an Ohio State situation on your hand."

A source critical of the program said Marquess distanced himself from the letter because other people around the program had told him they were going to back him up, but never did.
"They left Marquess out to dry, and that's probably why he went ahead and wrote the letter in the first place, because they said they were going to back him up," the source said. "He was told by parents and players he was going to be backed up, I know that for sure. None of the parents are speaking up now because they're worried about their own kids."....

The department did not interview Bill Drake, Wilson himself, or any of the other players who'd left the program since Leach took over. A parent familiar with the investigation said the players were never specifically asked about abuse.
According to the unredacted documents, the new team athletic trainer, Chris Lange, did say that there was "[l]ots of pressure to get them back on the field after an injury" and that "[c]oncussion diagnosis and return to play has been controversial." And an academic services staffer mentioned nonspecific "yellow flags" ..."

Kylie Fitts decommits from USC
By Blair Angulo | WeAreSC
LOS ANGELES -- ESPN 150 defensive end Kylie Fitts (Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley) decommitted from USC on Tuesday, sending a shock wave through the recruiting world that not even he saw coming.
Fitts, an early enrollee who had been committed to the Trojans since April, had signed and submitted his scholarship paperwork to USC. The four-star prospect was even out shopping for dorm essentials recently with his mother. He was set to enroll Thursday and attend his first class on Jan. 14, but those plans changed.
"Something happened recently that questioned my trust in USC, so I'm reopening my recruitment," Fitts said. "It literally broke my heart. I broke down and cried. It was so hard for me and my family. It's just what's best for me at this moment. I'm putting in God's hands and trusting that everything will work out."
Fitts became the fifth decommitment for the Trojans, joining Max Redfield, Eldridge Massington, Eddie Vanderdoes and Sebastian LaRue. The latest one was undoubtedly the most surprising.
Fitts, who participated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game over the weekend, said there were a number of developments in his recruitments that led to his decommitment, but declined to specify the reason for the last-minute switch.
"I've been committed for almost a year now, and it's been hard for me," Fitts said. "The fact that this is happening so late in the process, it's hard to find a college. My parents and I will meet with my head coach and come up with a good game plan of what colleges I'm interested in."
Fitts, who saw his senior season end prematurely due to a broken wrist, officially visited USC the weekend of Dec. 7 along with the other early enrollees. He also took a trip to Washington on Nov. 9 and has a sibling who attends UCLA.
"Those two schools are some possible choices," Fitts said. "I told USC that they're still high on my list. I still want to consider them, but I need to take a step back. Coach [Ed] Orgeron and Coach [Lane] Kiffin still want me a lot, and they want to keep recruiting me. They're going to recruit the heck out of me, they said."
USC now has 14 commitments in its recruiting class.

Numbers game, not enough EE spots, . They'll continue to try to get him in the fold, but it's up to him at this point.
