Doc was a bad coach, who met Tom Thibbadeau and became a good coach.

He sin't Popavich, Phil Jackson level but he's very very good.

I would put him up around Rick Carliles a shade under Erik Spolestra.

I ain't say he was Pop or Phil level, but he's for damn sure better than Pringles which is what all of this was about in the first place. Don't even know why C CP1708 brought it up in the 1st place.

It'll probably be Leonard guarding Durant, Green guarding Westbrook and Parker guarding Sefolosha.

If we killed Brooks, they could switch in Reggie Jackson and make Parker guard him at least and not let him rest on Thabo.

Course that won't happen, but in a perfect world. ... :lol

See, you see the "good" label follow Doc everywhere, why? 2008.

Doc has 24 wins in 2007, and wins a title in 2008. Now, everyone gives him the benefit of the doubt. Why? MAJOR talent upgrade to his roster.

Mike D'Antoni was about to win the 2007 title, only Stern decided to suspend his 2 bigs for not a damn reason, and now Mike is known as what? A loser. :lol

And Laker fans can't grasp that for ****. They believe that Doc is the reason 2008 happened, but 2007 is all on Mike, not anything else. It's ******* ridiculous. :lol

Doc got his teams to the playoffs in Olando, won a title in Boston and lead the Clippers to their best year ever. MDA has failed, badly, in his two stops after Phoenix.

I have no problem with you saying Doc is overrated - he probably is - but I can't get down with saying MDA is on the same level.

Proshares wanted me to say something about the Suns making it to the WCF after Chester mentioned it.

Pro is having a slow work day, and needed reading material. I'm tryin to help the guy out. :lol

Again, forgetting the 5 years of draft picks that were sold, go ahead and forget those, Stern SUSPENDED his front court for something Robert Horry did.

And you just toss that aside like nothing. :lol :lol :lol :lol

And there's still no guarantee they win a damn thing or even that series. Always with the hypothetical scenarios.

Mike has worked for Robert Sarver, James Dolan, and Jim Buss.

You go ahead and think on that awhile, and you'll see a pattern there of why a coach may not have had the best pieces in place for him to win with. :lol

If D'antoni hired THibs when Steve Kerr told him too a lot of things would be different.

Again, one of his biggest flaws, his stubborness of doing it his way. MDA is the one that refused to take on Thibs, knowing he can't coach players to guard a chair.

D'Antoni has his flaws (mainly communication with players), but he hasn't had much stability since 2008. A lot of things out of his control with the Knicks sacrificng his first two years of coaching there, the Carmelo Anthony trade purge, lockout and injuries.

Man, here I thought it was gonna be a slow day in here.

They lost game 1 when Nash broke his nose open and couldn't play the final minute.

Thru that, they won in San Antonio, had it 2-2, with two of the next 3 at home. Then Stern.

Stern gave the Spurs the automatic win in Phoenix, which they lost by 3 points, WITHOUT their front court.

Take Duncan and Horry out against the Suns, and then blame Pop for not being able to win with that set up. :lol

All well and good, there is still no guarantee they win. There's no way for you to prove it would have happened. Again just your opinion. The Spurs could have just as easily dropped game 5 and won 6 and 7.

Chris Paul has definitely made more bad commercials than he's won playoff series

Can we maybe put a limitations period on your gratuitous Clipper bashing? Say, maybe, that you have until the conference finals start? That should give you enough time to get it out of your system ... until next season.

I can get on board with that. Because I respect you and your long time dedication to the Clippers. I know what it's like to support a losing team year after year...

The only problem with Mike is the league caught up to him and he never adjusted.

at least doc kind of tailors his offense to his talent.

but before people caught up he was elite.

Why are the Spurs such a heavy favorite over OKC in here?
Don't understand this myself.

OKC has proven to be a matchup nightmare for them in recent years.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs won the series, but some make it seem like it will be lightwork for them like the Blazers were.

Very true. Just as easily as the Suns could have won game 1 with Nash healthy, and put the Spurs away like how they lost in 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, etc etc.

That year they skated by off game 1, and game 5. Which is enough to give them the edge.

Good point on Thibbs by the way. Doc got KG and Ray, young Rondo, Pierce, Perk, and some vets like Posey and PJ Brown, Cassell, Baby Davis, Powe, even Tony Allen.

And Thibbs.

They go 7 in the first round.
They go 7 in the second round vs a 1 man Clev team
They go 6 vs the Pistons who were coming off 5 straight conference finals or some **** like that.
And then beat LA in 6, missing 2 starters.

Credit to the Celtics, no doubt.

But Thibbs leaves, and Doc has won nothing since. He's had injuries and bad luck too, no question, but all this "Doc is a very, very good" coach, stems from 2008, when his team was loaded, and Thibbs was his main assistant.

Now he just got dropped by Scott Brooks, and his full roster, loaded to the max. *shrugs*

So the fact that MDA could have had Thibs at his side and refused means nothing. Ok?

Wonder if we can just do a poll in here to see who think MDA is a top 5 coach in the league right now.

If Russ and KD are both playing well there's nothing anybody can do, even Scott Brooks.

HYPED for both series.

D'Antoni was probably hesitant in bringing Thibbs because it makes him look like a lame duck.

See the Mike Woodson situation.
