He should retire but it's cool for guys like Penny, Grant Hill, Amare, etc. to get 2nd and 3rd chances after their injuries? Stop it.

Model it after that classic Derrick Coleman Duracell ad from this year?

"They wrote I'd never play again.  But I never learned to read.  So I didn't listen."

Would be inspiring stuff if he was making the comeback.

Bulls are at $63.819mil with a non-guaranteed of Erik Murphy next year.

Amnestying Boozer gets them to $47.019mil

They have the Bobcats pick, their first, and their second. Currently 14th, 18th, and 48th. That's about $3.5mil. So they are at $50.519mil, with 10 guys on the roster.

As good as I think Taj is, Bulls have to trade him. If they had their second scoring option already in place, then no doubt you keep him. But having Taj making what he makes when half the cap is taken up by Rose & Noah makes it tough to keep pieces currently in place, and add that 1st or 2nd option for a few years.

They'd have to comprise a 3 team trade, take back a guard (because let's face it, they are anemic on the bench with guards. Rather than screwing themselves and paying DJ Augustin more than he's worth this offseason, you have to let him go). If the Bulls can take back $3mil in salary and a future second rounder for Taj, maybe even throw in Mirotic's rights to change it to a future first rounder. They'll be at $45.519 with 10 players.

That allows Melo to take about $17mil (Better situation, better chance at winning with Bulls. Making anything over $17mil first year for Melo will really hurt his chances at a title). Even if he wants more, the Bulls could always dump Dunlevy, who wouldn't play very often if Melo is there, which could get them up to about $19mil

Rose
Butler
Melo
???? (Draft Pick)
Noah

Guard from Taj trade
Snell
Dunlevy
Draft Pick
Draft Pick
Murphy
????

At that point, you have the full Mid-Level to go after someone to make your bench. If you are able to get a first rounder for Taj and Mirotic's rights, they could end up having a draft with 4 1st round picks in 2015 (Sacramento, Cleveland, their own, if they get lucky in a Taj trade)

Bulls are his only option to legitimately win a title (that we know of right now). Lakers don't want to pay him, and by the time he'll wait for the Knicks to put together a championship team, his contract will be over.

How much less can melo really take? He can't go from 130m to 70m

He's probably gonna opt in for next year then weigh his options in 2015
If he were to sign with another team that has max cap space, I believe the deal would be for around $96 million.

So it will definitely be less if he were to sign with the Bulls unless that do all the manuevering that was been previously mentioned.

I wonder which bad Joe Dumars move was the straw that broke the camel's back.. Because there is at least 30 of them.

Dumars should have quit after trading away most of the core Pistons Championship team, but he just stayed for the extra checks :{

"Tired of the criticism" Well what are people supposed to do when you make mistake after mistake???

Doesn't even matter that Dumars is getting fired when they are trying to bring in Isiah Thomas

There's no way Dumars should've left Melo, Bosh, and Wade on the board like that. They're scouting department should've been fired as soon as Stern said "With the 2nd pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Darko Milicic from Serbia and Montenegro" ...

That title run saved Dumars' ***....if they never got rings, as bad as that Darko pick was, it would be scrutinized 100x more.
