I just dont know where Aaron Mckie came from.

Theo Ratliff was their second leading scorer averaging 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.7 blocks

Mutumbo was putting up 11.7 points, 12. 3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.  and was defensive player of the year that year

Really liked how Shaq took ownership of the breakup from the Lakers and the issues between him and Kobe last night. I'm on board with him if they stay together, 5 to 6 championships. Even though Chuck tried to throw shade and make jokes about Kobe getting him traded. That was the most serious segment of Inside the NBA I had seen in a while, with a very interesting take on the situation.

George Lynch was actually a really solid player too but he got hurt.

You act like Steve Kerr, Chalmers, Brian Shaw, Fisher and other point guards on great teams were superstars...when you have a dominant wing scorer like Iverson was then Eric Snow is more than capable of getting the job done. Geiger was a solid *** backup big man back then. Mutombo was DPOY, Mckie was 6th Man of the Year and Larry Brown won COY....like I really don't know what more you want out of them. Yeah they weren't the best team in the history of the NBA but they damn sure shouldn't be brought up as one of the weakest Finals teams ever.

Mutumbo also outrebounded Shaq by ALOT in the finals, 61 to 38

Mutumbo also lead the NBA in playoff rebounding with 316, and he upped his scoring average to 16ppg with 12.4 boards and 2 blocks.  Dude came to play that year

Y'all really trying to justify that '01 Sixers team? In any other year the guys that were their second/third best players or whatever would be great role players. They looked that good because the east was that bad. Even though they made it to the finals, I didn't like that team. It wasn't IF they would lose the finals, it was by how much.

Not to take away from guys like Ratliff and Geiger, they were really good hustle players, but as guys the team depended on, that spelled trouble. Aaron McKie was solid for them at that time but he got hurt if I remember correctly and he wasn't the same by the time the finals rolled around.

It's the NBA. With the the best basketball players in the world...the task of making it through 82 regular season games, and than 12 more games to reach the Finals is no easy task.

yall all sound crazy , tht 01 sixers team was not elite . a man by the name of Allen Iverson literally carried tht team to the NBA Finals . yes they got blocks but they definitely weren't elite because of it .... they were using role players as their second and third options . they did not have a squad , not even a little . but don't try and take away from wat they accomplished by saying the east was weak it's the NBA yall all here to ball out .

I never said they were the weakest finals team ever. That goes to Cleveland and the Nets teams that came later IMO.

The '01 Sixers were on fumes by the time they got to the finals. There were 19 possible games leading up to the finals, the Sixers played 18. The Lakers meanwhile played 12, one more than the minimum 11. That's not saying the Sixers would've won but they sure as hell had it a lot longer road. I was surprised they even won Game 1.

They won like every single award that year, were the best team in the East all year and Iverson was absolutely unstoppable that year.

Clarify that stat please? Six BPG over 82 games? The playoffs? Finals? In this case you have to specify. I can't remember if they average 6 BPG in the finals against the Lakers. Either way, they were outmatched in the finals.

This. There was a sharp drop off in talent after Iverson on that team. Everyone acknowledges this. That team's success speaks more to how good of a coach Larry Brown is.

I don't give a damn what hate you wanna spew on them. That team was led by one of the greatest scorers in NBA history's best year, Larry Brown's best coaching job and AWESOME role players. Mutombo, Geiger, Snow, Mckie, Tyrone Hill, Lynch, Jermaine Jones, Ollie and Buford weren't anything special individually but they were a hell of a team the way they played together and played their role perfectly next to Iverson. They had some straight up goons on that squad. That team had heart.

I can't think of another team that swept the awards like that either. Even Croce won Executive of the Year that year too. I guess Pepe Sanchez had to win ROY for them to be considered a decent team though.....
