I'm not saying Kobe can't make people better, but Pau's stats on Memphis don't seem all that much different from his stats on the Lakers.  He actually averaged more PPG in his last two full Memphis seasons than he did in any Lakers season.  Also, I don't know that Shannon Brown or Luke Walton have ever balled out of control lol.

Yea, the only reason he really made those teams and multiple all-star games was due to him being in LA. He was doing the same exact thing in Memphis and it only amounted to one all-star game. He led Memphis to the playoffs 3 straight years and only made one all star team. As soon as he's traded to LA, he makes 3 straight all star teams.

I never said being in LA was the only reason he made multiple all-star games.  However, can you explain how Kobe made Pau better and into an All-NBA player?  I'm not saying he didn't make Pau better, I was just surprised that Pau's stats didn't really improve.

Kobe never made anybody better. LBJ had eric snow out there looking awesome. Had Anthony Parker styling..... had bums actually playing good in Cleveland

Anthony Parker was pretty good on the raptors, and Eric Snow was always a smart player...did you see him on those early Sixers team starting with A.I. in the backcourt, while he is guarding the teams best players? Bad examples.

And Kobe did have teammates that improve or did significantly better when they were on his team, Smush Parker, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher, Trevor Ariza, Earl Clark etc.

I'd guess it's because more casual fans follow the Lakers than the Wizards.  Also, you said Ariza balled out of control when playing with Kobe.  Just because Ariza isn't getting attention now doesn't mean he isn't playing better.

putting teammates in more positions to score =/= making teammates better

players become better by practicing during the season and the off season, not because they have a teammate that finds them in their spots more

the key is for the star player to make the most of the offense. if you're looking at numbers wade and bosh's numbers dropped when they teamed up to play with lebron but that doesnt mean they were getting worse as players or anything. they figured out how to play alongside eachother by their second year and won championships because of it

ariza/sasha/fisher are not better basketball players because kobe chooses to shoot 15 times a game rather than 21 times, they are better players because they put in work during practice. kobe thrived in the triangle offense (like mj before him) and it resulted in 5 lakers championships, not because he made his teammates better but because he was able to adjust himself to his teammates and find the most effective way to use his skillset to attack the other teams defense. lebron's method is different than kobe's who is different than jordan's method for making the most of his offense but at the end of the day they all figured out how to be good enough to win championships

LO in Miami was superstar status.  That trade to LA (while it did produce rings), wasn't good for his career

That squad with Odom, Wade and Caron Butler was one of my favorites. Ever since they broke that team up for a couple years of Shaq and fired Van Gundy I've pretty much hated the Heat.

Those guys some of you are naming were better on the Lakers because of Phil Jackson. Why this isn't obvious is beyond me. Do you guys even understand the game? A player's impact on the court is largely defined by whether or not his coach has a system in place that establishes a role for each player. 85% of coaches are not good enough to accomplish that.

LeBron is a different monster. Not only does he make his teammates better, he makes his COACH(es) BETTER. Mike Brown has been exposed.

Without LeBron James, Mike Brown has been exposed on the Lakers and Cavs. He never made any player better. LeBron did.

Without Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant has been exposed. He never made anyone better. Phil did.

You guys are like females. Your opinions are based on emotions rather than your senses.

Instead of listening to your heart when it comes to deciding if a player makes his teammates better, you should rely on your eyes. If you throw your emotions out the window and have watched NBA basketball for at least the past 4-5 years, the aforementioned facts should be obvious.
