Both teams definitely won. Gortat and Shannon Brown are expiring contracts. Suns add another first rounder to their total rebuild.

Washington also can see if they can get the most out of Lee and Marshall.

Hearing Marcin Gortat is main piece for #wizards. Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown & Malcolm Lee not expected to stick around in DC
Bill Simmons had me convinced Gortat to the Thunder was inevitable.
Bill Simmons also thought the Celtics could get Cousins and Jimmer for Avery Bradley

this is old, but was this posted before??

I wish the whole thing was in Hebrew

What exactly is unique about the "OKC way"?

Nothing, they're just the only small market team who built a title contender strictly through the draft and player development. Perennial lottery teams can do the same but still year after year you see dumb free agent signings where you overpay for a 2nd or 3rd tier guy or trade away picks.

Also, Marshall and Lee probably will never play for the Wiz, just pieces to get the trade done. If they ain't planning on keeping Brown they definitely ain't keeping them

Simmons was JUST talking about Okafor being moved in that Clips vid too

Best way to build a team if you're not in a big market with this new CBA, follow the OKC way

Let's face it, the OKC way is lucking into Durant. :lol

But credit is due to them for identifying, drafting and developing Westbrook, Ibaka and Harden.

they basically sucked as much as you could for 3 straight seasons, and lucked into durant, drafted westbrook and harden. smh seattle got dicked

San Antonio tanked for one year and lucked into the greatest PF of all-time. No different from OKC lucking into Durant.

What I credit San Antonio for is being able to keep Duncan around. Because imo, it doesn't look like OKC will be able to keep Durant.

If a "model" involves drafting a historically great player, it isn't a very repeatable model for other teams to follow.

In reality, people should be talking about the Pacers model. They drafted the Hibbert-George core in the mid-first round (ie they didn't luck into the 1st or 2nd pick), managed the cap well, and were able to attract a great free agent in David West by playing playoff basketball and not sucking. Now they have a contender. And even then, that team will start to get pretty expensive real soon which will force some moves.

They didn’t go into full-on tank mode until after they lucked into Durant (or, the #2 pick, at least). That’s when they decided to gut the team, and picked up the #5 (Jeff Green). Clay Bennett knew he could tank and surround Durant with guaranteed Top 5 picks over the next couple years, build something good around one superstar, and just print money as the only game in town. Problem is, he landed three stars (super-max players), they got too good, too fast, and then it was like “holy crap, we actually have to pay these guys!”

So, the lesson really is: tank, but don’t accidentally draft three superstars unless you’re in a big market.

Yes they lucked into Durant but Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka were all just great picks

Bill Simmons is such a troll. He had the audacity to propose a trade that would give Boston Asik and the Rockets Jeff Green... I understand his homerism but there's no way Morey pulls the trigger on that

Oooooh good lord :{ :lol my guy @Essential1 must be busy with those bad *** kids he teaches, cause I've been halfway slandering him all week cause of trade mentions like this
