I can't stand Bill Simmons when he is on PTI, but when it comes to NBA countdown or these NBA previews he keeps it 100 for real. He doesn't care who he offends and tells it how it is. I remember watching NBA countdown last year and he made comments that had everybody on the set looking uneasy, but he was saying what everyone else was thinking....

i agree. screw the entry pass. pick and roll would be much more dangerous imo. gives dwight more of an rebound and putback advantage also

Generally yes the pick and roll works well, but the postups I'm taking about is where he gets right under the basket and pins his defender. If those possess are made on time, that's a dunk or a foul. Instead the pass isnt made and he's pushed out further from the basket than he needs to be

Yeah I see what you mean. for instance the blazers run this play through Lamarcus a lot where he doesn't need to be so far under the basket so he can turn and pop, or turn and fade and it's butter.

For this to work, there are screens, misdirection, and THEN and entry pass. But yeah I agree, if dwight gets it down low its a dunk, but only if he can get his footwork right.

the situations i'm talking about, dwight is getting downcourt, getting right underneath the basket, pinning his defender and turning. the ball NEEDS to be in his hand as soon as he turns and puts his hand out. instead, the pass takes too long and he has to get out of the paint to avoid 3 in the key

That's 3 ppg more than he averaged in the playoffs being thrown into the pot unexpectedly after only getting minutes the end of the season after Maynor was traded. Is that so unrealistic?

It's not like the Mavs are one 21-year-old pick-and-roll point guard (that is going to get strong-armed on defense) away from a title, though. How about you just take the likely significantly better basketball player?

(I know Schroder went a pick before, but they did have an earlier pick that they traded.)

Then again, I think pretty much every team that passed on him ****** up.
