Damn they trying to bring Shane down he is still my favorite boxer.
In other Mosley news.
Nothing has been finalized but Shane Mosley and Zab Judah have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to meet on May 31 in Las Vegas. Mosley is coming off a loss to Miguel Cotto ... and Judah hasn't beaten a world class opponent (Cory Spinks) in three years ... and Zab has only has two wins in his past six fights.
So how come we're so excited about this fight? Probably because we can't imagine it not being action-packed, with both fighters throwing and catching a lot of leather. No alpha-belt titles will be a stake. Who cares! Assuming they can work out the details, we'll be tuning in to watch Mosley-Judah on May 31.

30 year-old Judah 36-5 (25), a two-division world champion, has had two minor wins since losing to Miguel Cotto by TKO in June 2007.

36 year-old Mosley 44-5 (37), a three-division world champion, is coming off a close points defeat to Miguel Cotto in November 2007.

Imma be rooting for Super Judah even tho he still doesnt listen to his corner.
He showed me some heart vs Cotto that I didnt know was there.
that should be a great fight

He did show ALOT of heart against in Miguel in June, but I think Shane is a smart boxer and will out point him to a UD decision.

Atleast Zab is gonna get paid.

Good for him.

Zab is just getting his final pay day if he loses its over for him and he hangs up his gloves.

Shane is just too smart, still hungry, more speed/power. I watched the shane vs cotto fight again and i still think that Shane won because Cotto stole roundsby flurrying at the last 10 seconds of every round.

Shane has said that he would like a rematch with Cotto again someday hopefully after Zab.

Always liked the term Tomato Can.

Anyone know if Teddy is going to be back ringside for Friday Night Fights this week or is he still suspended? Big Teddy Atlas fan but wouldn't mind anotherappearence from Roy Jones Jr.

Speaking of Friday Night Fights don't forget The Ding-A-Ling Man fights tomorrow night. Dude has some serious hands and has been in some very entertainingfights.

Thanks String, good to be back.
And no, no mention of the Chavez PPV because it would be too confusing. I'd have to put "Tomato Can vs. Tomato Can" in the title and then nobodywould know what the hell is going on.

[h1]Demetrius Hopkins: Never committed to HBO fight vs. Witter[/h1]

The news hit the British media and boxing Web sites like a storm a few weeks ago: junior welterweight titleholder Junior Witter of England was coming to America to defend his belt against Demetrius Hopkins on March 22 on HBO's "Boxing After Dark."

Witter's handlers were talking about the fight as was Golden Boy Promotions, Hopkins' promoter. HBO also acknowledged that the fight was penciled in to open a telecast headlined by lightweight champion Joel Casamayor against Michael Katsidis.

The only problem: Hopkins (28-0-1, 11 KOs) said he never agreed to the bout or even received an offer. In fact, he told ESPN.com on Thursday he is no longer under contact to Golden Boy. He said his deal expired Jan. 6.

"For one, I was a free agent and negotiating a [promotional] contract and I've been waiting almost five weeks for the proposal," Hopkins said. "My contract expired Jan. 6. I had no extension, no signing bonus, no nothing. I haven't heard from no one from Golden Boy."

To help sort things out, Hopkins signed Wednesday with adviser Cameron Dunkin, who has worked with two of Hopkins' pals from the Philadelphia gyms, junior middleweight Anthony Thompson and lightweight Zahir Raheem.

"I believe in Cameron and he believes in me," Hopkins said. "We're putting our heads together so we can go ahead and get things done so I can become a world champion."

Said Dunkin: "He hired me because he has no idea what is going on. I'll find out what's going on."

Golden Boy chief operating officer David Itskowitch said he was surprised that Hopkins was unaware of things.

"We had conveyed an offer for a Witter fight to who we thought was Demetrius' attorney and representative and who we had dealt with with respect to all of his fights," Itskowitch said. "We were unaware that Joe Cardona was no longer representing Demetrius and were under the assumption that our offers had been communicated to Demetrius. Joe told me that he had conveyed the offer for the Witter fight and that Demetrius had accepted the monetary terms.

"We had been in contact with Joe about a promotional agreement as well and we were under the assumption that those terms were also being conveyed."

Hopkins said he'd fight Witter, but only with the proper deal.

"We're looking at a lot of guys, [like titleholder] Ricardo Torres, for one," he said. "I think that would be a perfect fight for me. Not that Junior isn't a good fight for me, but nobody told me what the purse was for the fight. All I heard was I was fighting Junior Witter but things have to be right on the business side."

Hopkins' ties to Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy were through his uncle, light heavyweight champion and company partner Bernard Hopkins. Demetrius Hopkins, however, said his relationship with his uncle has deteriorated badly in recent months.

"I don't have a problem with Golden Boy. They're good people. It's just that with my uncle, we have our differences," he said. "It's not going to work between me and him. We have our differences. We don't get along. It's been like that for awhile. It's a shame. He's got to learn how to talk to people and respect people."

Hopkins, 27, said that his uncle threw him, his 6-year-old son and fiancée out of an apartment they rented from him in Philadelphia because he was two weeks late with the rent. Demetrius Hopkins said it was a mistake that happened because he was in the process of changing banks, not because he was short of money.

"The man kicked me out of his apartment," Demetrius Hopkins said. "He kicked me, my son and my fiancée out [in November]. He didn't show me any loyalty so why would I show him any? Yeah, I was two weeks late. I was switching bank accounts. He could have told me to pay a late fee. It's not like I didn't have the money. It's not even that he kicked me out. But when you kick my son out, then you got a problem with me. If you don't care about my son, you don't care about me.

"I'd like to do things with [Golden Boy CEO] Richard [Schaefer], [vice president] Eric [Gomez] and Oscar, but I don't want to do business with my uncle. It's the same thing with us as what goes on between Floyd [Mayweather Jr.] and Floyd Mayweather Sr., and [Bernard] isn't even my father."

Bernard Hopkins, who was in England promoting his April 19 defense against Joe Calzaghe, was not available for comment.

Dunkin, who has known Hopkins for years, said he wants to explore all the options for Hopkins, not be limited just to Witter.

"I haven't seen contracts or what they are offering him," Dunkin said. "I need to see what they are talking about with the Witter fight. Demetrius hasn't seen anything. He hasn't been talked to about that fight or what's involved in the fight -- the money. No details have been given to him at all. He's in the gym but not training for that type of fight. He hasn't set up sparring. He would really like to go to camp if he's going to fight Witter. But first we have to find out the details."

Dunkin said he'd consider Witter but also wanted to speak with promoters involved with other top 140 pounders, including Top Rank, which promotes Torres and contender Kendall Holt and Lou DiBella, who handles titlist Paulie Malignaggi. There is also the possibility of an elimination fight with Herman Ngoudjo, Dunkin said.

"I want to look and see what else is out there for him," Dunkin said. "I think I should talk to all of the promoters who have the top 140-pounders."

"All Joe's other American opponents had to go to Wales or England" Let's see how Joe performs in the United States. The USA is the stamp of approval. There's old Poppy Hopkins standing at the gate

match-up."

"HBO Sports is thrilled to present the fight between Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe live on the network," said Ross Greenburg, President of HBOSports. "This is the type of big event programming that has been a staple of our World Championship boxing franchise for 35 years."

One of the greatest middleweights of all-time, Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs) has epitomized excellence for almost two decades inthe fight game. Owner of the middleweight title for over ten years and for a record 20 successful defenses, Philadelphia's Hopkins moved up to the lightheavyweight division in 2006, and immediately won The Ring
Magazine World Championship with a dominating 12 round decision win over Antonio Tarver. In his last fight, on July 21, 2007, Hopkins continued his amazing runat the age of 42, outpointing Winky Wright. Now it?s on to Calzaghe.

Unquestionably one of the greatest super middleweights in boxing history and currently The Ring Magazine Super Middleweight World Champion, Newbridge,Wales' Joe Calzaghe (44-0, 32 KOs) has never tasted defeat in his pro career and has held the world super middleweight title since he defeated Chris Eubankin 1997 for the World Boxing Organization Championship. Twenty-one consecutive title defenses followed that victory -- fourth-best on boxing's all-timelist -- and after big wins over undefeated champions Jeff Lacy in 2006 and Mikkel Kessler in 2007 in which he added the International Boxing Federation (IBF),World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC) championship belts to his collection, he now seek a bigger challenge at 175 pounds where Hopkinsawaits.

Hopkins-Calzaghe is only the second time two reigning Ring Magazine champions have fought since the new championship policy was established in April 2002 (thefirst contest happened on December 8, 2007 when Floyd Mayweather met Ricky Hatton for Mayweather's Ring Magazine Welterweight World Championship).

anyone thinking BHop might be able to pull of a knock out victory with some counterwork?
I had Calzaghe winning ever since I heard of the fight coming together but now... I dunno

I am probably with alot of people on this when I say its Calzaghe's fight to lose but after watching Hopkins all these years you can never count the manout. The disparity in punch output between the two is going to be ridiculous because even if you only watched 1 Calzaghe fight in your life you know all theman does is throw punches no matter how ineffective some of them may be. Another thing about Calzaghe is the Kessler fight proved to me that he has a muchbetter chin than I thought and if Bernard is going to be selective with his shots they better be good ones.

Bhop will not win by KO , Joe will fight at a very fats pace and outwork Bhop , Bernard doesnt do much fighting anymore he is as smart as they come but Joe hasenough experience that I dont think he'll fall for the traps

I only give him a chance via knock out cuz I dont feel there is anyway the executioner can win on points. Not in London and not with the incredible work rateCalzaghe always puts out

^Gunna, fight is as Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas.

I didnt think that Hopkins was going to beat Tito let alone knock him out, so like I said never count him out. Anyone remember the Hopkins v. Echols fight whenEchols body slammed Bernard and he seperated his shoulder? Bernard was in the corner saying he can't go out like that and went back in there and destroyedEchols. Dude is a warrior.
