Those ESPN FC cats were talking mad **** about Real Madrid saying PSG was gonna run up the score on us at the first leg
Those guys talk so much ****, making themselves look foolish. Outside of their attacking 3, the starting line up is suspect. Talented and experienced for sure but when your 3 man midfield is a combination of Rabiot, Verratti, Motta, Lo Celso and Diarra, they can only get you so far. But against a team like Madrid, they're not gonna cut it

^

Very unbalanced squad imo. Neymar and Mbappe are great but when Ariola is still your keeper who is fr trash imo, and your best fullback is a 34 year old whos still decent but not what he used to be I couldnt really see em doing it this year.

Alves is decent at best. In Ligue 1 he is a solid replacement for Serge Aurier but to go deep into the CL, you have to o better.

The tactics by Emery certainly didn't help but I don't think they would have done much better regardless. He is gone for sure. It will be interesting to see what moves PSG make this summer.

Zizou needs to be given props for starting Kovacic, Asensio, and Vazquez.

It takes balls to sit both Isco and Bale in place of those 3. And to also not risk Kroos/Modric, trusting the others away in a hostile environment. He also got his tactics spot on with how this lineup played. A+ Zizou

Ramos was also great with putting out fires

Neymar not being there aside, P$G don’t have much of a midfield. No pivot to control tempo no attacking/creative players. Even if Neymar were there, the result would’ve proly been the same.

I wonder if the Emir will keep Al-Khelaifi in charge of P$G or is he related to him somehow making him safe to keep his CEO position?

I really like what I saw from Kovacic, Asensio, & Vazquez today. Wow. Casemiro Looked good today too breaking up plays & also scored that goal...

Madrid getting back on their grind like I thought they would... Benz gotta find his mojo again though...

For such a highly rated player I saw zero impact from Verrati
I’ve been saying for years that he’s waaaaay over rated. He doesn’t know how to defend without fouling the ish outta players. He’s out there chasing the ball & clipping the ish outta people’s ankles... No football IQ at all...

CR7 was also decisive yet again. 3 goals over the course of the 2 matches is incredible. Also tied van Nistelrooy's record, scoring in 9 consecutive CL matches. Just last match he became the first to score 100 CL goals with one club. Incredible how many different records his name pops up with. Instead of getting caught up in goat debates, we sometimes just gotta take a step back and appreciate the greatness, and not take it for granted

I've always respected him immensely and before geteuropaquik's incessant slurpage I never got caught up in the Messi vs Ronaldo banter. Famb got on my nerves tho

Some final thoughts before getting back to life and responsibilities

RM is due for a new #9. He seems so awkward for RM and would be expensive, but the only dude that makes sense is Harry Kane.

Asensio sonned Alves on the first goal. Took the ball from him and then had him do the Eiffel tower with the meg for the hockey assist.

Spanish Lingard had excellent movement on both goals, assisting one and re-taking the lead in the famous NT debate

On that note:
Tomorrow: Spurs-Juve (2-2)
Next Tuesday: United-Sevilla (0-0), potential lulz
Next Wednesday: Barca-Chelsea (1-1)

CL gawds blessing us with great return legs and perfect scheduling for this round of 16.

^with his track record in leading a team, he isn't winning the WC

PSG thought splashing cash on the flashy player alone would be enough to win the CL. They have no system, their tactics are heaving the ball forward and try to make something happen. At this rate, they'll always be known only as the best in Ligue 1, which isn't to highly regarded amongst Europe it seems. Keep throwing money at flashy stars while not focusing on assessing your needs and finding players that work well together and perform.

On another note, Thiago is still class, the one player I wish years ago actually came to Barca.

At this point I don't know if I could ever pick against Real in the CL. They've owned the competition under Zizou
