Wrestling Thread June 5th-30th/TGIF Edition/G1 Special In US Saturday 8PM ET Okada vs Cody

I know I'm in the minority and I'm gonna get flamed but I hated The Rock. Only liked him as a heel.
"Herewegoo!!!"

I'll stand with you bruddah. I more "appreciated" than "liked" The Rock, I was never really a fan.

I mean, let's break it down. His offense wasn't spectacular, that Sharp****ter was an abomination, his super finisher was a Spirit Bomb elbow drop, and the things he said were goofy af even to 12-year-old me.

Seriously, every week with the Mad Libs:

"Finally The Rock has come back to (city)...one on one with the Great One...(opponent) is a jabroni...millions and millons...shine (object) up real nice...ifyasmell."

Of course, he did have a certain undeniable aura that meant most of the rules of--everything--didn't apply to him, but I certainly see why someone wouldn't dig his whole thing.

On a semi-related topic, I believe The Rock is a legitimate role model in life. From mediocre football player to world champion, Hollywood megastar and potential presidential candidate on the power of self-confidence. Electrifying.

Shinsuke would've been rolled out much differently as well.
Yup, would have stayed the KoSS and probably would have had that program with the Miz instead which would have been way better.
This just means the WWE will make him yell in his promos

I never understand how they always shine a spotlight on a person's weaknesses instead of highlighting their strengths.
just...no....

Roman is getting destroyed by creative/Vince. Get rid of the outfit, music, spear(Hate everyones spear besides Goldberg), and let him tell fans to kiss his ***. You'll have a megastar then

Rocky was cool, but definitely appreciated Hollywood Rock more than any other phase of his career. Can't say that he didn't entertain me every time he came across my screen heel or face though.

Even loved me some Scorpion King lol some movies are so bad, they're good.

The Rock knew who The Rock was: The Rock. In the end, that's what drives the ultimate success of individuals in practically any public pursuit.

My personal favorite was Unstoppable Champion Rock. Flying around the ring with graceful leaping clotheslines, handing out thunderous spinebusters and pulling out that clunky but credible Tornado DDT.

Dude ****-talked people for 10 minutes, ran down their families and friends then commenced to a stylized ***-whoop.

It was almost comical to see how the other dude just WAS NOT gonna win, like when Madden nopes you in the second half by a linebacker jumping 10 feet in the air for a pick-6.

It was Jordan, Ali, Bo in action. Just no.

I don't mind the superman punch just stop doing it 3-5 every big match. Honestly WWE needs to revamp their format. Samething since 98 with lesser stars.

The only thing I hate more than the Ambrose clothesline is Roman no selling the buckle bomb into the superman punch. INFURIATING :{

I was over it when he killed Billy Gunn on RAW

Y'all confuse charisma with the goofy stuff the Rock did.

All charisma isn't created equal
I hate John Cena, but you can feel the passion he has and the charisma. When he says he'll kick your a s s, you feel like he means it. Roman still feels like he's acting.

It pisses me off when they over use a finisher and these kickouts after a finisher on a regular basis. There isn't any build up/story telling in the ring anymore.

I can feel that. He ended that man's career on live TV. I distinctly recall that.

Bad management, IMO.

While wearing Versace...

Only the Rock could do that in his era...
This is why I say he wasn't my guy, but he WAS pro wrestling at its finest.

I remember back when a finisher was a finisher. No its a transition.

This. When a finisher was hit, you knew the match was over. If someone did kick out, it was rare, thus making it special.
