Wow Kobe was so explosive back then

All you had to do was watch the games and know TMac had a better season but that is for a separate thread, I don't need to look at stats (and I like both players). T-Mac was as good as it gets during those prime-healthy years, never had a big man to help him out.

One of T-Mac's under-rated qualities has always been his passing abilities.

Actually on 2nd thought, a separate thread would be a disaster with the homerism.

I don't get why this turned into a most explosive argument. Kobe was explosive. Why people are trying to categorize in a supposed "appreciation" thread is beyond me. Kobe's peak game has never been centered around his explosiveness either. What makes Kobe special is that he had the ability to explode effortlessly while also being a gifted scorer from the perimeter. He still has to an extent but he's not touching his peak years.

Mac had free reign to do whatever he did and that was his max output and all he could do was muster one more basket a game than KB.
Wrong. That's what usage percentage is, since you said you didn't understand it. T-Mac barely used more possessions than Kobe, and Kobe actually used more than Shaq. The idea that T-Mac was out there gunning while Kobe wasn't getting enough touches just isn't true.

Like I said though...

But I guess that's for another thread.
This is getting off track and neither of us are gonna change our minds.

Like I said, offensively, he was on par with Kobe that season. But an all around better player? He has never been.

Exactly...there are two ends of the court and Kobe was FAR superior on the other side.

yeah tmac was not even close to kobe on defense that year...I dont think he has ever been
31 year old kobe with drained knee>>>>tmac at any point in his career in terms of defense

this is the same as people saying lebron is better cause of his stats and his blocks off the backboard
with kevin durant as well cause he shut down hobbled kobe in one of the oklahoma games

you also can not forget when wade "surpassed" kobe when he blocked him FROM THE SIDE in one of those 2006 games

That's the thing, offensively he wasn't "on par" with Kobe, he was better.

Defensively, Kobe was better, but not as much as you guys are making it out to be. In my opinion the gap between them defensively was not enough to make up for T-Mac shooting better, passing better, and turning the ball over less. Just overall a much more efficient year offensively.

I mean, you guys can take solace in the fact that Kobe's career >>>>> T-Mac's career, but for that one year I'm still taking T-Mac.

Why are people bringing up T-Mac? Hell, Never seen T-mac average 28 a game and almost 30 in the playoffs alongside with arguably the most dominant center of all time and win a title.

You put another superstar alongside with Mac and he aint putting up those numbers in a way that would benefit his team.

Kobes @ 26 a game >>>> T-mac at 30+ back then, now, any day.

I used to LOL when people would say Iverson/Mac >>> Kobe at that time. That's why one guy ended up with titles and the others didn't. Don't use Shaq as an excuse, we've seen what Iverson can do when he's on a good team same with Mac, absolutely nothing at all.
