Wow Kobe was so explosive back then

T-Mac 29738 minutes
Kobe 45177 minutes

Kobe less than 1 year older

Kobe 45177 minutes
KG 45450 minutes

2 years older than Kobe

Kobe 45177 minutes
Lebron - 25197 minutes

Kobe 6 years older (Lebron seems to average around 3500 minutes a year, he will be within a 1,000 give or take what Kobe is at now)

This is not including .. FIBA World Championship games... Or Olympics...

By the time Kobe retires I say within about 6-7 (3-4 more on top of his game, and 3-4 as a top 20 player but not top 5) I estimate he will have played in about 65,000-70,000minutes in his career....
eek.gif
... He's averaging 3700 or so the past 3 years... I did 3 at that rate... 3 at 3300... 1 at 2500....

Read this right here.

Let's not forget that Kobe has played in many, many more games than Vince/Tmac/AI/Stack/etc. For these guys, age isn't as defining as the number of games played is. Kobe has more mileage on his body than any of those guys, and probably more than Tmac and VC combined.
It ain't about age, it's about mileage, games/minutes, etc.  Pdoggy85 hit it right on the head.

i can buy that for now

but its really a theory that hasnt been proven

i think we gotta wait until all of these straight from high school to nba players careers are over to fully decide

i think it has more to do wit age, because the body starts healing and reacting in different ways as you get older.

but there are arguments to prove it.

we'll see what happens to lebron because he's only 25 and i know he's logged major minutes, because hes been starting since day 1

so if this mileage theory is correct he should be breakin down by age 29-30,right?

I agree, I am really interested to see when Bron starts to break down.  He's in good shape so far though in that he's yet to have a real bad injury.

Kobe's had multiple surgeries, a bad shoulder, several fingers, ankle, knee a few times, hand, wrist even when he was still a teenager, and despite all that, still has this much tread.

I think this upcoming year will show us alot.  If he avoids the nagging ones he had this past season and starts to break down further anyways, we'll have our answer.

Bron's minutes/games at (going to be) 26 are FAAAAAR above Kobe's and KG's were.  It'll be real interesting to see how that turns out.

but through 7 seasons, Kobe played in 21 playoff series to lebrons 13

Kobe 23829 minutes
Lebron - 25197 minutes

Kobe 8 seasons through 25... Lebron 7 through 25

Reason being is Lebron came in 1st pick and started... Kobe didn't until his 3rd year...

God help Lebron's legs in a few years...

Yeah, I wasn't sure on Shaq, but I meant in terms of his peers, begging for work after such incredible careers.  Getting passed around team to team like a jumpoff.  Shaq been on 4 teams in 6 years, and might make it 5 in 7 here pretty soon.  That ain't right.

TMac can't get a job, AI can't, Vince is getting traded all the time since he's a bum, Stack retires and then comes back, stuff like that.

VC has been on 3 teams since the late 90's. I hardly consider that getting traded all the time.  T mac is still good, but most teams don't trust his knees. At one point all of you will admit that T mac was better than Kobe. Everyone knows Mac owned 03-05.

Add that Jordan came back in 01-03 at late 30's and was still pwning dudes in their early 20's. I mean dude was just sick. He played like how Kobe plays now which is to take shots and less dunks or attack the basket.

I don't think Kobe will go away quietly.

Again, don't assume I'm saying he isn't good anymore. He still is one of the best players. He was unreal from 04-07. Don't shortchange his individual excellence during that period.
He had no squad to back him up during those years, so he had to put up ridiculous numbers to stay afloat in the standings. I think Kobe still has the same, or an even better skill set from his "explosive" years. I feel like he's picking his spots these days.
