That was my reasoning.

Maybe for other franchises, but not the Lakers...

I don't think its such a far out idea. He has been a clutch player and key contributor on those 4 (more?) championships. I could see it happening...just don't know how long after he retires

I'm a big Fish fan but absolutely not.  He literally has a better chance of his number getting retired by the Warriors or Jazz.

Baylor, West, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar, Johnson, Worthy....Goodrich looks out of place enough, but could you imagine a player like Fisher up there with those greats?!?

I don't know why you guys are still going over the merit of Derek Fishers jersey retirement.

It has nothing with the hate I have for the guy.

Like some Laker fans pointed out already.

The Lakers do not retire numbers unless that player is in the HOF.

Derek Fisher is nowhere near a HOF player, so the answer is no.

Can't believe this went 4 pages,

Fisher could be the only player in the history of the Lakers and he still wouldn't deserve to get his number retired.

Exactly.  And BS had some really decent numbers for a 4th option during his prime/hey day.

The Celtics might, they retire anybody's jersey.

But not the Lakers, only the elite of the elite.  The way it should be.
