GR has a different view to the newer generation. do you're homework and realize "limited" edition didn't exist until very most recent years.Nike would work with other design-based brands but didn't produce many because they didn't want to risk wasting money on production if the shoe failed-had nothing to do with exclusivity. want more evidence? ask an OG collector- and i don't mean somone who only collects OG's. i mean someone whose beendoing this thing for years. ask them about their older pairs... all "GR"... but what makes some of this #@*@ dope is that these styles don'texist anymore and cuz not many exist/ not many people have them in the collection. there's a difference between "this SHOE STYLE doesn't existANYMORE/ not many ppl STILL have them" vs. "not many of this COLORWAY was released, so i bought them" but to answer the original question- youonly see posts that GR is wack because it's mostly likely only the voice of ignorant (prolly young) hypebeasts voicing their opinion. i bet the TRUEsneakerheads- NOT streetwear dudes who happen to collect sneakers- don't need to post thoughts. they know whats dope, no one's gonna influence orpersuade them, and when it releases they're coppin. simple as that.

bam528...........thanks for the well thought out respnse.

Maybe its not as bad as i thought, but it was irking me and i wanted to discuss it.

Agree.

But it's not just sneakers, it can be sports trading cards or ...even cars. Like i said value. Having a card or car that everybody has makes your car/cardless valuable, i'm talking about collectors, not just the casual person.

And you said those who've been collecting have been collecting GR's...well those GR's are now pretty rare.

hypebeasts, thats all it is......ppl want what they cant have or think others cant acquire

I get what you're saying but look at shoes nike does RIGHT and how hyped people(especially in retro)get for GR stuff. A lot of NT is about getting stuff noone else you know has so they can feel "cool" but you can't overlook the people who get what they like just cause they like it either.

Collection or not gr or limited I still think
If you buy what you like doing all right

What everyone else said.

But I don't mind GR's. I wait on them to go on sale, cop a pair and stash'em to wear later once everybody else's are busted.

A dope shoe is a dope shoe.

good point OP. i think it says alot about NT (not in a good way) when a brand new member picks up on this so quickly. it is for several reasons...

1. ppl do want exclusivity (which is understandable), but they take it kind of far, imo
2. they are closet hypebeasts
3. elitist attitudes

there are many reasons why the game has been reduced to @%!@

i dont even think its that......i think they just look down on people who try to stunt with GR's on......i think theres like a silent understanding if itsa hot shoe that is a GR.....because no one is gonna turn down a hot jordan just because it is general release......but all the people who try and act like theyare better than someone but have a shoe anyone can get need to kill themselves.......i mean you shouldn't think your better than anyone to begin with...butdont laugh at someone else if you got on stuff anyone can get

I don't care if it's a GR, Premium, Supreme, Elite, QK, or TZ as long as the shoe looks and feel great I'll cop it.
The only thing is that Nike only puts good materials and cw on their non GR releases, thus making me not buy the GR shoes.

OOOOOO i'm sorry, thanks for playing though. i'm under the impression that when most people think GR, they only think of dunks/blazers/terminators- yaknow, the typical Nike Retro styles.
but what about Penny 1's, Foamposites, Bakins... all three shoes i personally don't favor but look at how many threads and posts reading "OH !#++,OMG OMG INSTA-COP." and yet all of these are Indy/Urban account retailers. guess what? these accounts are pretty much everywhere! it's not likethey're ONLY at like 5 stores, or ONLY 100 pairs made. in other words, available to the GENERAL public.
i'll break it down. wanna know why you dudes knock GR (dunks,blazers/etc)? because the Nike Dunk has become mainstream, so now it's not as appealing.despite Nike will still make some dope colorways in these style shoes, now ONLY the "tier 0" or "collabo" ones will be accepted by thesneaker community. some are too narrow-minded to ever learn, some i hope will open their eyes...

I think you're wrong.

maybe on ISS
edit:
I think if anything, they just seem to give "rarer" sneakers more passes.

who cares if there limited or not if you like them copp em if you dont pass and who cares if someone hates on you someone always will

Anyone who looks down on GR shoes is taking the shoe game alittle too serious and might need to re-evaluate they're priorities. Hot shoes drop as GR andhot shoes drop as limited, one is not any better than the other. But then again I don't buy shoes just cause they limited.
