Why do MOST NT'ers look down on General Release Kicks????

Obviously im new to NT, but as i read posts in all the forums [ retro, nike, JB] I noticed a pattern.

GR kicks are usually looked at as corny or even laughed at.

I see a lot of comments like; He thought his GR j's were hot or people even laugh if a person has GR's in their collection.

Isnt that potential HYPEBEAST [ hate that word] status???

What type of snekerhead lets availability determine a hot shoe.???

a HOT shoe is just that, a HOT SHOE.


Doesnt matter if its a 1 of 1 or at the outlet for 50 bucks.

most general release shoe's aren't too appealing since they're mostly catering to the mainstream society and not us sneakerheads.
But some gr kicks are dope, just most aren't...

Thats what i think, but theres nothing wrong with wanting something not many people have.

Also when people think their greater than others for having such limited or exclusive shoes. Totally unnecessary they think their like God or somehting. Smh

Just wanted to discuss what people thought was the reason behind this.

Value.

For people who collect, sneakers less available to the public are more valuable towards their collection.

That's why collections with GR shoes are considered weak, and collections with more rare pairs are respected.

p.s. that really doesn't stop me from buying a GR shoe. But i like limited shoes for my collection.

It never bothered me if everybody and they momma have the shoe.


Esp because it may be a while before i wear em, by that time people are wondering why they look brand new.


Before the EBAY days, wearing last years hottest realease a year or two later broke a lot of necks.


I can respect the VALUE angle though, but since i buy my sneakers to wear ive never thought about that.

Too many people worry about what others think. They think if it's limited it's hot.
Instead of buying what they consider hot.

You can always tell the REAL sneakerheads who have a love the actual sneaker, rather than collectors who just collect kicks to boost their ego.

i love GRs cuz they are easy to cop... but i think ill wait for some retros to go on sale instead of coppin on release day...
