Where does Reggie Bush rank as an all time bust???

After I saw who the creator of this post was I had to
roll.gif

Reggie Bush is not a bust, he just hasn't dominated in the NFL as he did in college.

Hey OP,

Remove your head
23ur97t.jpg

and then off yourslef. And I'm not even a Reggie fan like that...

This dude was being compared to Gale Sayers when he came out of USC...Gale Sayers, folks.
smh.gif
The only other college RB that I can think of who was compared toa NFL HOF'er when they came to the L was Ricky Williams (Earl Campbell)...

no way can you spin his stats and look at where he was drafted and NOT think that he's on his way to being a bust.

^ That's not the point. OP claims he's a TOP 5 NFL BUST OF ALL TIME.

There's hundreds of dudes who are/were bigger busts. This thread is worthless.

WORD not even close to Leaf, or Lawrence Phillips, Kijana Carter, Tim Couch all them are way more busted draft picks!

Well, OP also asked (in the thread title) about where Bush ranks as an all-time bust....I didn't read that he said he's a top 5bust...which I don't agree with. I still stand by what I said in that Bush is on his way to being considered a huge bust due to who he was being comparedto coming out of school, draft position, and the fact that he's for the most part struggling with many of the nuances of what it takes to be a RB. He's a damn good pass catcher out of the backfield and dangerous when he's in open space....but, in that draft class if you're going to rankRB's...where would you put Reggie Bush? As a matter of fact, how many NFL teams could Bush be considered the #1 RB?

Doublejs knows a little something about busts....he has fred smoot as his avy....enough hating on my favorite non-tackling football team.....Reggie Bushisn't a bust. Like everyone else has said maybe not worth the #2 pick, solid back with a lot of potential and skills.

Stupid comment about Smoot....2nd rounder and has had an average, long career.

He never really came close to living up to his expectations though...Again, I'm not defending Reggie. Dude is borderline BUST status (thisseason will move us more towards a final verdict IMO). But saying he's A TOP 5 BUST OF ALL TIME tells me you are either 8 years old or younger, oryou're are completely clueless. No other explanation.

Top 5 bust of all time?

I have a better argument saying Alex Smith is a top5 bust of all time, but even I don't believe myself if I said that. Not only is Reggie Bush notcompletely god awful he's still quite young.

Smoot sucks...we know this. There are NEVER any expectations for dude other than making sure his heart is beating when he wakes up in the morning.

There's some guys on that list doing worse than Reggie. Vernon Davis comes to mind....

Yall are seriously kidding yourself if you think Reggie isn't a bust..

Reggie had more hype than LEBRON JAMES coming outta usc..

Most predicted him to be a hall of fame, once in a lifetime type of player.. Multiple NFL MVP's type of player..

Dudes were acting like the texans were the dumbest franchise in the history of the league to not take reggie number 1 overall..

He's in the 4th season and is the teams 3rd string running back..

and those 82 catches as a rookie sound impressive unless you watched the games and know that 90 percent of those catches were caught in the flats for anaverage of about 6-7 YPC..

Bill Parcells said it best " reggie bush is a satellite, hes only good in open space"

Basically reggie went number 2 overall w/ lebron james hype to be a punt returner.. Thats a bust.. no way to sugar coat it..

And I STIILLL think the Texans should of taken Reggie Bush.. Eh
ohwell.gif
mind telling us why?? and I'm a Reggie Bush/USC fan myself... but you have an all pro DE in Williams

Our defense has been our only and PRIMARY focus ever since we drafted Andre Johnson. We have not used a pick to improve our offense in the firstuntil last year in Duane Brown. The Texans have drafted DE's and DT's countless times in the first 3 rounds since 2003. I mean, Okoye, Mario Williams,Connor Barwin, Travis Johnson, Jason Babin... And at that time Domanick Davis/Williams tore his ACL too, so it would only be fitting.
But, no we were SOOO content on having Wali Lundy and A TRUER bust in Ron Dayne start at tail back. Our Rushing game was piss poor.. And at that time unlikethe Saints, we would be able to USE Reggie bush as our primary back. I mean we have a good defense, but we can't put up points. That tires the mess out ofour D and in the end we're giving up points.
grin.gif

Honestly in my mind thought we didn't draft Reggie Bush b/c we would get AP the following year... Eh
ohwell.gif
ohwell.gif
.. Probably would of picked Okoye regardless..

No *$+!@%! way, bud. You're wrong... the hate for Reggie ran pretty deep, there have been guys saying he'd be a bust since before he ever played adown. He was not on some lebron type hype.

And that's generally what i've seen here on NT, too... there were a few USC homers and morons who thought Reggie was going to be the best player of alltime, and an equal number who were writing him off before he ever played in the NFL just because they hate USC or were jealous or something like that whichthey'll never admit.

The majority of football fans knew he was a special college player but weren't sure how it'd translate... and now we're seeing.

Craftsy...I gotta roll w. Truth on this one. Dude was 100% right about the hype surrounding Bush when he came out of USC. Like I said before, dude was being compared to Gale Sayers...not by folks here on NT, but by the media. Folks on NT thought this dude was gonna revolutionize the RBposition....at best I thought he could be like Tiki, but even that is looking like a stretch.

*LenDale White while no where near as explosive or flashy, is and will ALWAYS be the better player. I've always thought this.

He was on some Lebron hype

Dude was a can't miss, sure fire stud

RARELY is someone in a draft talked about in that light, I can't remember anyone ever spoken about in those terms

Guys.. c'mon. Lebron James has been hyped as potentially being the greatest of all time since he was like 12. There will never be hype like the hype forLebron.

People were seriously doubting Bush his entire career..... like i said, a lot of it was just hate. But it was there. I actually had to justify to people in therose bowl thread how good of a game he had, as they were already calling him a bust in that one. I'm not saying NOBODY hyped Bush up like that, butrational people understood his game wasn't going to translate the same way... there was spin on him the entire time on how, "even if he doesn'tmake a great between-tackles rusher, he can still catch 100 passes a year"... That type of stuff alone should tell you that people were cautious.

I just think you guys are getting a little anecdotal and local with your assessment of how hyped he was... certain people surely did it. But on the whole,Lebron hype vs Reggie hype is not even close.
