What's the point in carrying cash?

I put everything on my credit card for many reasons
1) I get airline miles
2) I get a grace period usually of about 4-6 weeks from the purchase date and earn interest on that money while its in my bank account
3) You get a lot more purchase protection if you use a credit card (ex. I went to see Messi in Chicago and got a refund back on my credit card because a lot of the players they advertised didn't show,)
4) You aren't liable for fraudulent charge

This.

Easy to run through that bread on the card. Especially at the bar.

Yup. Bar scenarios are the worst. I'll like want to get a beer with a buddy and cause the limit is $20, it turns into at least 2 rounds of drinking. Even some of my coffee shops have limits of $5. Sometimes when I don't have cash, I a forced to get a coffee and a bagel just to go over the limit. Again.....it's rare but at least in SF, there are still tons of places that would rather have cash than take a card.

i carry 20-50 on cash in me, especially since i started tutoring and get paid in cash
cash is the easiest to pay for taxis, split bills, etc.
otherwise everything else is with debit, dont own a cc

I carry $20-100 with me all the time just in case something pops up.. cue birdman handrub gif

I only carry cash if I'm hitting up the barbershop...

my old barber had a cc machine...so convenient.

Bruh I keep my whole net worth with me in cash everywhere I go :pimp:

Anything else is uncivilised

F credit cards and err body that love em.
I don't need rewards. My reward is dat feel when you buy something expensive and pay it in straight hunnid's :pimp:

You guys are crazy...never carry cash...ever really. Except to pay a cover at a bar.

Cash back/ rewards on your CC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>cash

The Chinese joints I go to accept card.
The food trucks I go to have Squares.
Pretty much the only time I will ever have to go to the ATM for cash is if I go to a fair or something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I only carry cash if I'm planning on using it within 2 or so days for places that does not take card i.e chinese spot, barber shop (Actually my barber take card now). I personally hate carrying around coins.

I dnt like using debit/credit because sometimes I lose track of how much I'm spending

That's an excellent reason why. However there are programs/apps(Mint) out there that can help. I use Quicken, and all the transactions downloads into it... so I know exactly where all my money went in detail. Now if you use cash, how do you keep track on what you spend your cash on?

Personally I don't care to pay using cash only because I HATE coins. If I do end up paying cash, I always give my change to the homeless guy outside.

I use cash for drinks and food. I always withdraw in €5 bills so it feels like a lot more than it is.

Other than that I use my debit card for everything.

The day drug dealers accept debit/credit

I always use my debit card. Only have 20 or less in my wallet at any given time

Last august my wallet got juxed at the gym. Didnt have any money whatsoever in there but it scared me into keeping that habit

I control my spending much more with my card, if I have cash in my hands it flies...I have multiple accounts set up, savings, bills, and spending money, my card is only linked to my spending money account and it always has a low balance....can't fraud me there...if I need to purchase something, I do a transfer right before my purchase and pay, many times I've waved down what could have been stupid impulse purchases because of having to transfer funds, gives me a few seconds to really think and see money in my other account drop to reconsider.

main reason i dont carry cash ..... is disappears

with a card your purch makes you think before u swipe

Use card for everything pretty much. Cash back plus the conveience. Really only bring cash for the casino or the rare spot that is cash only.

See, I actually think its the opposite. With a card it's like "GOT MONEY ON DA CARD Y'ALLLLLL" and swipe swipe swipe. With cash, well...it's cash, you know exactly how much it is, and exactly where it's going. unless somebody snatches the cash out your hand and runs, I don't really see a problem.

Like other have said I lose track of my money when I just swipe away. Its harder for me to pay cash then to just swipe a peice of plastic. Ever since I started carrying cash I've noticed Ive had more money at the end at the end of the week

Multiple studies have shown that paying with cash actually causes people to spend less. I was one who thought that carrying cash actually caused me to spend more because I saw the money in my pocket and therefore had to spend it. Only once I switched from using a card (that was paid off every month) to paying with cash did I see that I actually saved thousands a year.

I predominantly use cash after a large amount of money was stolen out of my account because of card scamming.

Only use a card for a online purchases. But most times I'm ordering something online, I just run to the store and grab one of those prepaid Visa cards that let you load money on them at the store then use like a debit card.
