it was already set up and everything, but it stopped working recently and i hard reset it.... now i can't connect to the network cause there's a password and i don't know it.

just some more facts so you gurus can help me out

model number - SMC8014W-G

the SSID was originally my friend's name "mohler" but after i hard reset it, it went changed to "SMC8014WG-TWC3A" and the password is now WPA-PSK, it used to be WPE

i've already spent a lot of time googling how to fix this and what i got was i didn't hard reset correctly since it should just let me log in without a password.

- i've also tried many "default passwords" that i found online for my router such as "admin" "smcadmin" the original password we had, and leaving it blank. none of them worked.

i can kind of see that, since after i hard reset it (which i've tried many many times in the last couple hours) another network will pop up named "TI" that doesn't require a password, but it never lets me connect.

i was an idiot for hard resetting it, i know. so help me out router gurus

Reset your router by holding the reset button while it's powered on for 20 secs, then unplug the router while still holding reset for 20 more secs. Plug everything back.

Connect an ethernet wire from the router to your computer (turn wifi off)

Enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser, username: cusadmin, pw: password

Should be able to change your setting from there. Let me know if it works.

hey i tried that, but the 192.168.0.1 doesn't work. i'm running out of ideas..
edit: scratch that, it did work. i just had to unplug the cord from the router to the modem and it solved my problems. but i still can't get the wifi to work correctly (which is why i hard reset it in the first place)

Hi can anyone help me please. I keep on getting this message. "this computer is connected to Netgear but does not have internet access" Earlier my wifi was working when it wasn't password protected.

alright so it turns out that router wasn't ours and my housemate thought he bought it but he was just renting it.

so i just ordered a linksys wrt54gl and i'm looking forward to setting it up with some tomato firmware asap.

it'll be my first endeavor in the world of routers so hopefully it'll go well. looking forward to getting my psn back on
