What happened to men?

Millennial rates actually contribute to the overall rate...not sure why we shouldn't be counting them but alright

Around 50 percent of marriages ended in divorce in the 80s while today it's closer to 40 percent

I personally look at something that drops from 50 to 40 as a decline...others may have a different interpretation

Again, did you read the articles or just look at the numbers? The baby boomers inflated the divorce because they got married a bunch of times. Of course divorce rates are down because marriage rate are down. Can’t have divorce without marriage.

  • While that may seem like good news, the marriage rate is also declining, indicating both marriage and divorce are out of reach for certain segments of the population.
Ijs, I’m all for hope but don’t let numbers fool you.

Really, this needs to be posted on the first page. Can the Mods add something like this?:lol:

The marriage rate going down doesn’t mean the divorce rate goes down.

I blame rap music for the reason young people abuse harsh drugs and commit violent crimes. Sounds like a suburban White dad opinion but Rappers are influential to young people
I don't mean to offend I promise you, but this is blatant ignorance. Poverty, a cycle of institutionalized racism, bad parenting, not having a strong social circle, not feeling like you're being heard or your life matters. These things all contribute more to drug use and violent crimes than anything rap music can influence. Rap music is a bi-product of a harsh reality of some of these neighborhoods overcome by drugs and crime. Rap at its core tells the stories that are unwritten in the media. "**** the Police" wasn't a song to try and get young people to commit violence against police, it was a plea for people to pay attention to police brutality against minorities.

You sound like the type of person to have the opinion that "if everyone tries hard, they can be just as rich as anybody! And everyone starts from an equal playing field!". Again, not trying to offend you but the ignorance in this post just grinds me a certain way. Please feel free to ignore.

I don't think you are interpreting the numbers very well.

You can be all those things and use flowery Snapchat filters, bruh. Some of y'all have a very narrow view of what a man is and how a man can act
We all have narrow minded views about gender related acts/expectstions .

You ain't above that

Nah you’re right about all of that, but don’t you think younger folks who commit crimes and abuse drugs (aside from their unfair systematic situations) CAN be influenced by the trap music they listen to?

Everyone knows that poverty and systematic racism or whatever the unfair situation is contributes to crime and drug use, but I think it’s ignorant to ignore the fact that trap music def contributes to this at least a little bit, Kids wants to be like athletes and rappers. Not all rappers are terrible people I’m not saying that, **** I listen to trap music all the time. But some people think it’s cool to rob and steal. So I think it’s fair to think that ASIDE from their unfair situations, some kids are def influenced by music

If I made it sound like rap music was the sole reason for crime and drug abuse, I apologize lol

Another edit: I feel the same way about rock and roll. Privileged kids (mainly white kids) are def some what influenced by rockstars who snort cocaine and do other hard drugs, along with acting violently. Not all of them do what they do because of rockstars or the music they listen to but I def feel like that’s an influencing factor when their favorite rock star screams and promotes violent behavior and drug abuse

Glad I was raised by OGs...thank god I'm a 1984 baby.
Being around and picking up social traits before the internet is a blessing.

What’s the last year to be born in to qualify for picking up social traits before the internet?
