WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - Agatha All Along new ep every Wednesday

Lol if they resolved it tomorrow the current cast wouldn't be working for Marvel so enjoy being too big to fail at this point :lol

So weird that there isn't even a shared profit for each others film, Sony just seems real desperate with the move more than anything. Can't really complain though. Civil War just became a guaranteed billi.

On Sonys front, looks like they still got plenty planned of their own.

Spider-Man: How Sony, Marvel Will Benefit from Unique Deal (EXCLUSIVE)

Marvel has long wanted to put Spider-Man in its movies, but since Sony Pictures controlled the rights to the character since 1999, the web-slinger has been off limits. Making a crossover could have been costly, since Disney would have been expected to shell out millions. But the actual deal turns out to much cheaper — more like free.

Marvel Studios won’t pay Sony Pictures for the rights to put Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War,” the “Avengers” franchise or its other superhero films, as part of its new partnership with the studio,” according to sources with knowledge of the deal. At the same time, Marvel won’t receive a cut of the box office for any of Sony’s films that feature Spider-Man. Sony won’t receive a percentage of the revenue Disney makes from Marvel’s films that have Spider-Man, either.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also won’t receive payment for his role in helping revive Sony’s “Spider-Man” franchise, according to sources.

Marvel had originally wanted to buy back Spider-Man from Sony. But its resulting partnership, which was in the works since October, is just that — an arrangement that enables both Sony and Marvel to mutually benefit at the box office by having Spider-Man appear in their movies.

The deal actually benefits both sides significantly.

Sony needed to breathe life into its “Spider-Man” franchise, and by lending its character to Marvel has a way to generate more exposure for its big screen hero. Doing so also creates some serious goodwill among Spider-Man fans, who have wanted to see the character become part of the Avengers.

Marvel now gets access to one of the comicbook company’s most popular characters — it already controlled the rights for TV, merchandise and other platforms, but the holy grail for Disney has lately been film, where it has been able to launch franchises that impact the bottom line of all of its various divisions.

Character crossovers across studio films are virtually unheard of and have been considered too cost prohibitive in the past. They’re so rare that Marvel and Fox cast different actors to play Quicksilver in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

But with Sony looking for a creative way to put a spotlight on its franchise, and Marvel so eager to get its hands on Spidey, Hollywood actually figure out a way to work together for once.

The next step for Sony, of course, is to recast Spider-Man. The studio is looking to go back to Spidey’s roots and put the character back in high school, which would require it to cast a younger actor, Variety has learned. Andrew Garfield is no longer playing the character.

The studio is still moving forward with the Spider-Man villain-centric “Sinister Six,” and “Venom” spinoff, as well as a film that features female characters in the “Spider-Man” universe. “The Amazing Spider-Man 3″ has been cancelled. While Marvel’s Feige is involved with Sony’s new “Spider-Man” films, he currently is not expected to be creatively involved with the spinoffs, sources say.

Well sorry for clearing it up from a valid source.

And I highly doubt EVERYONE knew there is no split in profits between the two and they are just sharing the benefits of having Spidey in each studios films.

Actually, I am sure not EVERYONE knows it because I didn't and really wouldn't have guessed it.

The hell is your problem with someone posting an article from a valid source?

I'm fine with them rebooting Spidey, I just hope they start somewhere in the middle rather than rehash the origin story a third time.

I don't know how realistic this is, but maybe start off with Venom for the 2017 movie. Just jump into it. Then Sony can develop his spin-off based on that.

It was posted earlier.. People aren't used to you being late so they don't know how to act :lol

Well dude clearly said "Nothing that we couldn't have guessed. I'm pretty sure we all knew that." as if it was obvious from the very beginning. Plus I came back from lunch and the thread bumped to a couple of pages and when I skimmed through it didn't really see it til I posted in the Spidey thread (after I posted here) and saw your link.

I'd understand if dude just said "already posted" then it's my bad but dude acts so goddamn smug all the time. Seriously ruins any threads I see dude posts in and becomes unreadable. :{

I avoid interactions with this dude as much a possible but I ain't going to just let it slide for being a goddamn d*ck all the damn time.

They're looking for someone younger than Garfield so that kills all the Jake stuff

Telling y'all... look out for Jack O'Connell

Going back to high school Peter again :{

Couldn't even be college Peter

Sony still moving forward with their own spinoffs. And if they suck :x Disney/Marvel would look bad by association

Oh well I too didn't know neither side would share profits but just characters. That's kinda big and says a lot. Again I can see how ppl see this as Sony being desperate and in a big way this aint nothing but upside for Marvel since they get to use a character they didn't have to pay to get back while only sparing a few of their own characters and sharing their MCU.

Honestly, if it's a deal like that I don't see how FOX studios wouldn't be curious in to wanting in on that. Share Doom with Marvel and they'd get to use some Avengers.

Then again, I still want to see what a shared F4/X-Men universe looks like since it's a literal clean slate and untapped potential for crossovers just between the two teams. They got some of the better alien races and villains.

Don't got words for Sony going forward with Venom, S6 but I was always looking forward to a female solo film. Especially if it's Spider-Woman.

There is no way they could know for sure either

lol no one is being smug. Spidey been doing poorly and the Avengers would give him a boost. Money is the reason crossovers are basically unheard of between studios

I will say Watching Jack O'connel in skins at 19 I thought he was the truth, he was also great in starred up, and I think he has the talent to be one of the next great dramatic actors def not one of these random pretty boys.

but I just don't think he's the right type for peter Parker he's a little too....rugged if that the right word.

+ would never want to see him and Cobie Smulders on a screen together again

I wouldn't take a Ted Mosby seriously as Spider-Man.

Miles Morales was trending earlier cause the casual fan was probably saying who the hell is Miles Morales....

High school Peter is old, tired and been done already ...twice. I wanna see a young adult Peter that can hold his own with the Avengers. Not a bratty teenager ...

I am not going to go through a tedious back and forth with you but you literally just said "everyone knew that was the reason" that deal was made, that no percentage would be shared. And now you are saying it's all about the money? Completely negates the point that they do not take money from each other.

As you said, unheard of so this deal is unique and brand new so what you say that EVERYONE knows that there will be no percentage shared from each films is simply impossible because the move in unprecedented.

But yeah, you are goddamn smug in most your post acting like everything you say as if it is fact and everyone else is wrong. I mean just literally look at your stupid reply to a simple post that wasn't even negative towards anyone.

As I said though, I am not going to play your trolling game and fall for your stupid trap so have the last word on this discussion so it can end and we can move on.

You tell em, breh

So no one is concerned that while Feige is checking Sony on their Spidey films, he's not checking them on their Spidey spinoffs. What if they horrible?

Just know... If the new Spidey films are good, Feige will get all the praise, even for the ones he's not producing. If they're bad, Sony gets all the blame. #factsonly Feige can't lose :lol

I want to see how the Feige/Pascal solo Spidey film goes first. I think Feige will have a good influence on it especially since they actually gave a Marvel film spot for the film instead of just squeezing it somewhere in the year. So that kind of hints that there is some focus from Marvel for that film, maybe? And I think that could only be a good thing.

If Feige manages to push that film to a billi or close to it then I see no reason why Sony wouldn't let him advice them on the other films as well. Chances are Feige will move on to the next Marvel films but he would likely give them footnotes which Sony would have to consider moving forward.

Feige has achieved god status.
