Was MJ an average athlete??

"Dennis Rodman on The Dan Patrick Show (Part II) 6/7/13" on YouTube

aaaah yes noted basketball scholar Dennis Rodman.

His insight and opinions on basketball are so sophisticated and respected he was made the North Korean US ambassador of basketball by President Obama, right?

:lol

If Jordan had trouble with the Pistons

Lebron would have a meltdown

Spurs have got into his head, they have mostly held him way below his season averages in their meetings

So if Lebron grew up in the 70's and played in the L in the 80's, he would have the same mindset that he has today?

In general, I feel like Lebron would be better against the pistons than Jordan was. Not to say that Lebron was better, but he is a bit more equipped physically to play against that brand of basketball. He also is a better playmaker than Jordan which would burn the pistons for helping off of other players and things of that nature.

Defenses back then were a lot more one on one as opposed to today, where in iso situations teams love to zone / load up on the offensive player. Because of this I feel like Lebron would be even better then than he is now. You wouldn't be able to stop him from getting to the hoop. Detroit would have dished out punishment, but I don't think Lebron is nearly as soft as it seems you think he would.

So Lebron would keep his improvements from advances in modern training but now get an old school mentality?

Somethings got to give

True, which is the issue with comparing across generations and eras.

But all things being equal, there's no way a 2015 Lebron James doesn't dominate against even the best of the defenses in the 80's.

Lebron is unique in that he us incredibly fast at his size, as well as strong. Lebron is a legit 6'8 WITHOUT shoes, most of the guys in the league measure with. A powerforward who can move like a point guard with the skill and athleticism he has will be unguardable in any era.

If Lebron played in the 1980s, he would not shoot the 3 near as well

He'd be less big and athletic probably more in the Dominique Wilkins realm

He probably have a much better post game

Ever heard of Magic Johnson?

I didn't say anything about magic? Yes he was a 6'9 point guard, but he wasn't as strong, fast or athletic as lebron. Not discrediting him or standing, just pointing out that lebron might actually benefit more from his size back then than he does today.

Damn pretty disrespectfull to Magic IMO, It aint always about how fast, athletic, and strong you are in basketball, it matters how u apply that athleticism to your game. If athleticism was the only thing NBA scouts go by they'd be scouting out track teams instead of basketball teams. Magic was a better basketball player than LBJ. Hand Eye coordination is an athletic skill. An underrated one. Magic had more than prob any body ever. At 6'9. Same size as Lebron. Better footwork. Better post moves. Better Rebounder, Butter handles. Only edge id give Lebron is 1 on 1 defending and it aint by much. At this point by each of their careers at least. Magic was also playing against superior teams. League was a taller league back then too.

Once again I didn't say anything about skill, just size and athleticism.

Didn't you mention skill like 3 posts back?

Regardless I actually see Lebrons physical dominance as a bit of a negative attribute, a la 'The Wilt Effect' in terms of me being impressed by him

Fair enough. I mentioned lebron as skillful, not in comparison to magic.

Lebron came in the league for a very favorable time for a player like him. Rules are completely in favor of players like him. The modern rules have completely taken out the "Big Man" out of the game today. With all these stretch 5s and 4s. The NBA game is a 6'9 and under league now. Dominated by guards and combo wings.

Very good comparision in my opinion.

Dude was off the chain. Would absolutely dominate today's game.
Magic Johnson mix (made by NPZ)" on YouTube:

From a production standpoint, I see Magic in today's game as Prime Steve Nash like.

He wouldn't dominate though, the pg crop is just too good in today's game. He would be very good though.

without the help of modern hgh formulas im not sure if lebron would have lasted 6 years in the 80s

You are referring to thr available gears and shoes on the 1980's right?
With lebron acceleration of his 250+ body in some 1980 kicks i also think his knees and back would get pain and injuries faster.
alone when i wear some contemporary basketball shoes and some retros it feels like different world.

You frown at saying Magic would post prime steve nash numbers, then say he would average a triple double every year in Today's NBA.

You're special bro. I'm going to let you live with that dumbass logic though. Continue to post regurgitated nonsense from Youtube and other NBA specials you've read / saw.

As if it's impossible to conceive Magic as being a 19 4 and 11 guy in Today's NBA :lol boy i'll tell ya...
