Was MJ an average athlete??

I cant have Kareem, Wilt, or Russel in my Top 5 because I never seen them play. I'm not putting them up there by default.

Kobe is in the discussion for most overrated player IMO. Jordan needed Scottie... as much as Scottie needed Jordan?

Way off base here. On both subjects. Kobe didnt need Shaq, he won two titles without him. Kobe had to evolve as a player. MJ needed Scottie more than Scottie needed Jordan.

How can you guys argue that Hakeem isn't the best centre to play the game. He had one of the best post moves any centre has had, could also hit the mid range shot. Only player to evr win NBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP awards in the same season. The only player in NBA history to record more than 200 blocks and 200 steals in the same season. Also, at the time he retired, he was top 10 all time in points, blocks, rebounds, and steals. Hakeem is the GOAT.

He is. Dominated everyone. Best ever to do it, even dominated more physically imposing Centers. Something Russel, Wilt, or Kareem cant say.

You win titles by yourself, or nah?
mj went to the finals 6 times in hakeems prime and hakeem never showed up face him

hakeem is a great player but he gets overrated because his game is more flashy than traditional centers that were better basketball players with better careers

Did you even watch Hakeem play? Did you see how he embarrassed both Robinson and Shaq in the playoffs. How his performance against the spurs is considered the greatest performance a player has put on in the playoffs. How Shaq said there is no way to stop Hakeem after he got embarrassed by him in the finals?

you have to do better than that

at the end of they day he had limited playoff success compared to other great centers, not as many regular season accolades, and could only win when the best player in the league retired

Only player to ever win NBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP. Oh yea you just accomplish that by being a average player. He won back to back titles with a team full of average players. Jordan had a great Bull team. Heck didn't the Bulsl go to the EC finals without Jordan. Rockets wuldve been nothing without Hakeem

Hakeem was very nice and those fakes :x
I bet his fg% overall was nice as well. Best center to play agility wise

Hakeem is the best center ever. that 95 rockets team is still the only team to ever win a title lower than a 4 seed and they beat 3 sixty win teams to do so. Just go back and watch Hakeem dismantle David Robinson in the playoffs who was MVP that year. I think he averaged 34 and 17. Jordan himself is even on record saying he would take Hakeem as his center in a 5v5. His overall body of work is amazing

Hakeem vs Kareem is a helluva vs. In my opinion. I can't put Hakeem over Kareem just because I never saw Kareem play and I did see Hakeem play. But it's kinda hard to not have Kareem in there. His numbers are off the charts and he played with and against great talent. Kareem got 6 rings. Hakeem only has 2. Hakeem did it with less. But Kareem did it against better talent.

Dream should of had 3 or more but the NBA was pissed the Rockets beat the Lakers in the WCF and made sure to only bust key players for coke on the rockets even though everyone was doing it including Boston who they lost to. And not to mention all the illegal defense Seattle played against houston. Quite frankly, while still an important factor winning cannot be considered that important when so many variables go into it. Hakeem was just so well rounded I find it hard to say he wasn't the best

hakeem only won 2 championships, thats nothing to write home about

This is stupid. 2 Titles is more than something "to write home about" Winning is hard. The fact that so many greats didn't win rings, but TWO CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS are "nothing to write home about" is just plain silly.

Kobe absolutely needed Shaq. Shaq didn't need Kobe. Shaq did it with Wade. Kobe couldn't get out of the first round until he got not one but two 7 footers. And after losing to the Celtics, he had to have Artest bail him out. Then Kobe of course took Finals MVP with a Game 7 shooting 6 for 24...

Kobe's a guy who couldn't win unless he had the most dominant ever, or two 7 footers. Otherwise he's a first round playoff exit.

I'll say I'd take Wade, McGrady from the Magic over Kobe and I'd slide Kobe in with Paul Pierce and Air Canada. Not trolling, not being so outlandish if you really take a breath and think about it.

Yeah this is also stupid. Just flat awful.

Yeah it's very hard to win a ring but we are comparing Hakeem to shaq (4) Kareem (6) and Russell (11). In this context 2 is not impressive

It isn't that black and white. You can't romanticize it to this level of simplicity. Context man, context.

It isn't as simple as saying He's compared to Russell, Russell has 11 rings so 2 isn't impressive. No matter how simple you want to make this, it isn't. You have to account for context.

Not really, statistically they were worse even with the addition of Clyde. I think they were like a 6 or 7th seed that year. Orlando and San Antonio were STACKED.

honesty i don't hold Bill's 11 rings in a high regard as much as others. why? the league wasn't as developed and there were less than 10 teams in the League.

Nah this doesn't matter because when he's compared to Hakeem, he has 11 rings to Keem's 2. So, yeah

Kareem has 6 NBA MVPs and 2 Finals MVP, the NBA All time leading scorer, 19 All Star selections, 15 All NBA selections, 11 time All-NBA defensive, 4x blocks leader

That is arguably the best resume of any Basketball player ever
