Samsung Galaxy S7 renders reveal thicker, Galaxy Note 5-style design and 5.1-inch, curved screen
Once again sourced on our behalf by @OnLeaks, AKA Steve Hemmerstoffer from nowhereelse.fr, the Galaxy S7 features a design that’s not a million miles from the Galaxy Note 5, albeit without that phone’s trademark stylus and with more compact dimensions.
Measuring roughly 142.5mm x 69.5mm x 7.9mm thick, it’s also seemingly substantially beefier than the Galaxy S6 which comes in at 6.9mm. The extra bulk is likely to be down to the need to accommodate a larger battery, but we can't confirm that at the time of writing.
Our source claims the phone’s screen will come in at 5.1-inches, so remains unchanged from the Galaxy S6. But in a break from last year’s model, the display curves up ever so slightly at the edges, in the same way as the so-called ‘2.5D’ screens that you'll find on Samsung’s A Series smartphones.
Just as with the Galaxy S7 Plus, it appears that the standard Galaxy S7 won’t be equipped with a USB Type-C port and will instead feature older micro USB technology.
The upshot of that is that you won’t be able to look forward to faster data transfers and speedier charging.
