$499 for that Huawei Nexus is a damn good price if those leaked specs are correct and it begins at 32GB. Might have to hold off on getting that iPhone .....

Pricing is not bad at all. Wonder just how much of a difference the extra 450mAh will make in terms of battery life. If the rumors about the SD slot are true, then this phone will fly off the shelves, if not, then the Moto X Pure will get a boost in sales.

Not selling the device on US Carriers was a bad move IMO. You would think they would want to get this device to get as much exposure as possible.

Exactly, and with the Installment plans that are being offered, it allows more people to buy who want it but don't have the $500+ to put on it up front. If they were customizing it like the Moto X I could understand, but the rumors of the SD card hurt the phone more than helped it; now people are reminded of what they want but can't have.
And cloud storage is bogus when u don't have service everywhere or have to use data in order to use it.

I dont think the carriers are breaking their necks to sell the Nexus devices. Google doesnt really try to market their devices, so they dont sell well with carriers anyway. Carriers would take an L on stocking the phones and training associates to sell them, just for most of them to sit on shelves.

There's a lot of different factors that come into play, but I think if anything, selling them in T-Mo and Sprint stores would be beneficial to them as far as promotion and marketing for both the phone and Project-Fi, even if not there, then Best Buy.

No carriers is a genius move. Leave the device open and available to all carriers, Google gets to completely control the product and advertising. Putting it on a carrier with no margin benefit to the carrier to promote it like a LG, Samsung or HTC device, likens it to a cheap, no name device. It's of no benefit to them. Im sure google will offer some kind of payment program for these phone for people who cant afford the upfront. And people will come to know and find the phone in one fell area and will truly equate them as "Google" phones. It gives the phone some much needed "cache".

I still remember the mess that was the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon and other carriers. In my opinion it's best to keep them off the carriers and sell them unlocked. The Nexus devices aren't really built to sell to the general public like that anyway

I remember when I first heard the words "Google phone" years ago and how excited I was about it. That's why I'm glad this isn't being sold through carriers. We need to rid completely this idea of carrier-branded phones. It's a cheap marketing gimmick to trap you and offers nothing else.
As for these compromises on wireless charging and OIS... Something had to give with the great prices they're offering. It is disappointing that they're compromising on the camera though given that camera quality is presumably the reason for the ugly monstrosity on the back of the 6p.
