Can you explain memory leak? Anything I can do in the meantime to improve battery?

Without getting too technical...

A processor works by executing instructions from a program. When you open a program, it stores instructions in memory that are then sent to the processor to be executed while the program is running.

After you perform certain actions within the program it will no longer need some of the instructions it initially created and the memory is supposed to be cleared of the old instructions. When the memory is leaking, the instructions aren't being cleared and "leaking" into memory. This causes the processor to work harder to clear the old instructions from memory, requiring the processor to use more power, decreasing your battery life.

What you can do now is always close apps after you're done, underclock your processor if you can, trying not to have your screen on when its not necessary, using apps like greenify to block wakelocks, and using Pixel Battery Saver (download the APK from xda, not the play store version)

The metal frame for the S6 has leaked. Google it, They are coming for the throats of the smartphone industry. I can only imagine how crazy the Note 5 is going to be. Nobody but Apple has the $$$ and influence to kill the market like Samsung does. Get ready to be disturbed Samsung haters
Photos of Reported Samsung Galaxy S6 Metallic Frame Arrive
samsung-galaxy-note-4-9.jpg

Thanks to No Where Else, who is usually spot on with their smartphone leaks, we may have our first look at the metallic frame for the upcoming Galaxy S6 from Samsung. As we can see in the photos, it really is just a frame, but the pictures do offer a bit of information on what we should expect to see from Samsung’s next flagship device.

The frames looks rather thin, while sporting plastic bands around the edges. On the bottom, a single speaker is present, as well as forward-facing microUSB port for charging. The 3.5mm headphone jack is also located on the bottom of the device.

Looking straight on, it appears that renders we have seen previously from case makers were somewhat correct, with the LED flash being placed parallel to the camera, no longer underneath the lens like we saw on the Galaxy S5. On the sides, it looks like we have a power button next to a SIM port, and on the opposite side, we have what appears to be volume up and volume down buttons.

Reports have been all over the place in terms of what design Samsung is going with, but these photos lend credit to the report that the GS6 will not feature a removable backside. If Samsung is moving the SIM tray and microSD to the side of the phone, then besides having a removable battery, there is no reason to feature a removable back. Plus, if the company intends to incorporate waterproofing and dust proofing, then this design would help with that.

According to No Where Else, a second Galaxy S6, named the Galaxy S Edge, will debut alongside the phone that is photoed below. The S Edge is likely the phone Samsung references in their invite to its presentation on March 1.

Take a look at the photos below, then let us know what you think. Is the Galaxy S6 shaping up to be a real contender in 2015, more so than the Galaxy S5 ever was last year?

Thanks mate, all im currently doing. No root just is killing it, seems like greenify and every other app is more efficient when rooted. Currently closing apps after each use and greenify before locking screen still aint helping. Batterys draining hard. I think maybe titanium backup was actually useful now for freezing apps

Son your over here spouting corny analogies about how Samsung is copying apple but in the same breath completely ignoring the fact that apples ip5 and ip6's design language was completely stolen from HTC reguardles if you want to admit it or not. At this point in cell phone tech everyone is taking something from everyone and improving upon it. Whether its design cues or newly "groundbreaking" software additions that apple loves to tout after they make it to iphones after being available on their android counterparts 1-2 years prior. The last thing I want to hear is a iPhone user talking about someone "copying" them.

but iPhone invented NFC, lte, large phone, front facing speakers, beer, sex, multitasking, notifications, swipe keyboards, etc.

look, we all love to make fun of Samsung. they're the kid we hang out with who's ok and we joke around with all the time. apple is the truly annoying brat we all hate who we avoid at all costs.

RUMORS

SMARTPHONES
By Harish Jonnalagadda  | Feb 06 2015 | 12:36 am  | 23 Comments

An image of what is alleged to be Samsung's Galaxy S6  and Galaxy S6 Edge has been leaked to CNET Korea. The publication mentioned that the leak came from a South Korean electronics distributor, with the image itself featuring a render of both the Galaxy S6 and a Note Edge-style variant of the device.

The leftmost phone in the render is claimed to be the Galaxy S6, which looks like it will have a protruding camera sensor. The second and third phones have Verus-branded (a South Korean mobile accessory maker) cases. The last two phones highlight a sloping curve on either side of the device, further reinforcing the rumors that Samsung is working on a Galaxy S6 Edge variant with dual-curved edges.

From the render, it looks like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge may feature a similar metallic frame as we've seen in the Galaxy Note 4. The bezel of the Glaaxy S6 Edge looks similar to the teaser image featured in Samsung's Unpacked invite for Mobile World Congress  in Barcelona on March 1.

What do you guys think of the render?

NEWS

Today saw updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop  for both the Sprint HTC One M7  and Samsung Galaxy S5, but other phones in Sprint's stable are set to get their own Material Design  updates in the near future. Namely, the HTC One M8  is scheduled for February 13th, while the LG G3  is penciled in for February 16th.

Both update dates are, of course, subject to change, but it's heartening to see carriers like Sprintpushing forward with these major updates for flagship devices  on their networks.

Thanks to anonymous for the tip!
