dang, that's crazy. in my stint with apple i never saw any theft, but that took some precision and planning. thing is, each computer/iphone/ipod has aserial number...

Laptops as well, but iPods im sure they would never be able to track unless the person uses the wifi.
 
just think about it. stolen laptop serial #s are recorded and marked as stolen. kid buys a laptop and jumps online. without even thinking, you do a OS systemupdate, and the serial number is then known. Apple contacts your ISP and YOU, not the burglars are in trouble. at that point, you go after the burglars...electronics these days are not viable to steal and resell unless you give it to someone who will never get online.

do you have any idea how many laptops are stolen every day? and i can almost guarantee you 98% of those have internet access.

system updates wouldnt do that you would have to register your laptop to their website
which most people dont even do
