Allen Iverson. Tracy Mcgrady. Plenty of people who were universally loved
Revisionist History.

Iverson DEFINITELY wasn't UNIVERSALLY loved. The "establishment" probably hated him more than any other NBA Superstar in League History.

T-Mac wasn't universally loved either. You don't remember how much sass he got for cooking in ORL but not translating that into Playoff SUccess?

Bro, Tracy McGrady was one of the most hated players during his era

Maybe because I was younger during his peak but I just remember everybody loving dude and saying he was even better than Kobe

What?

Fair or not, AI gets criticized for his efficiency not being great. And for his attitude towards practice. T-Mac gets killed all the time for not getting past the 1st round.

They made jokes but can't ever remember anyone really 'hating' T-Mac.

Him and Yao were 2 of the faces of the league in the early to mid 2000's due to their huge popularity/likeability.

Remember seeing T-Mac features on ******* toonami  :pimp:

You're right, that sentiment was definitely out there. But that doesn't make him universally loved. He was slandered quite a bit

idk, after never making it out of the first round and being constantly injured, the jokes were starting to veer into real slander. imo

It wasn't the case years ago but Rose has gotten there right now
Not even counting D. Rose into the equation because he isn't relevant to the point where people even need to think about him.

But still, even when he scored 50 last year, you had The Woke Blog Boys writing think-pieces on why nobody should be happy for him because of his "gang rape" accusations.

It would be interesting to see how his career would have ended up if he didn't get hurt. I assume he wouldn't have lead his team to a ring and people eventually turning on him

Well, Kobe fans didn't mess with T-MAC because he was neck-and-neck with Kobe for the best Wing Player in the League. But universally loved, never.

Yeah I’m not sure if the convo is about a player being loved or not having criticism. I kinda just jumped in. Even tho some of those players may have been criticized, they were still loved. Curry gets an excessive amount of hate imo

didnt know that was jimmy butler. thought norris cole got back in the league

When Timmy was winning all those Chips in San Antonio, Texas was really hard on Yao, McGrady, and Dirk. When Shaq’s heat came back from 3-1 in the finals they wanted Dirk’s head

Lol dudes just be comfortable changing history. NOBODY hated Mac. wtf.
You might have it blocked out of your brain but T-MAC wasn't UNIVERSALLY loved.

I wouldn't say he was HATED but he caught slander for his team's lack of playoff success.

hawks suck. potential 4 points they just gave up on a boneheaded dunk and missed layup. would be a 7pt game. instead had to foul. and gaveup another 1.

Seeing Vince at 42 being a go to man in the clutch is a beautiful thing. Rather see him in that role than at the end of a contenders bench.
What does it say about a team that uses Vince in that position though. Being a fan of THAT team (if you are) can't be a beautiful thing, right?

i'm not saying he was loved. but if most of lebrons haters are really kobe fans and vice versa...it wasnt like that back then with kobe fans vs tmac. it wasnt beef.

i actually talked to a dude the other day, he was our waiter at BJ's in Orlando, born n raised. Gave props to kobe, but said tmac was better.

had a decent perspective. we had a good hoop convo for a bit.

cool dude.

i left without tipping tho. can't let son forget his words have consequences. it'll make him better in the future.

jk i'm bull****ting. he was a cool dude. we tipped well
