I read your post Cake the day you posted it, and I thought it was a good way to end this thread. I pretty much already agreed to everything you said in your third paragraph.

I don't know what kind of rebuttal you're looking for. I've already said The Wire beats The Shield in terms of realism. And for the little Easter eggs on the Wire, it doesn't really add much to the show for me. But that's because I'm not from Bmore.

Actually, I do have something to say. Vic Mackey's acting was BY FAR better than anyone on the Wire. Claudette's and Dutch's acting was also better than anyone on the Wire. In terms of acting, I don't know how people can say The Wire is better than the Shield in that category.
