United Fans - Who had the larger role while there, Phelan, Meulensteen, or both equally?

Edit - Reports are saying Barca had scouts at Porto's CL match yesterday looking at striker Jackson Martinez & center back Nicolas Otamendi... It's said AS Monaco & Chelsea were there also to look at Otamendi.

Coupe - Is it just me or do you think Eliaquim Mangala is the better CB or is Otamendi more polished & Mangala having a higher ceiling?

More polished? I guess you can say that. Otamendi follows the rules, Mangala breaks the rules because he's that good. No doubt Mangala has a better overall defensive game, but Otamendi is solid as well. He's a good cheap alternative.

As for Jackson Martinez, I really think Porto is overhyping him and overpricing him like they've done in the past with other players to make extra money. I think he scored all of those goals last year because he was a product of the system. Moutinho and James were wizards out there giving him the ball in good positions to score. This year, he's been off man. He does nothing. He doesn't spread or intimidate the defense, he's not good with his back to goal when he gets the ball, he's not a poucher, he can't shoot from outside the box, and his heading accuracy is average. He's good at finishing direct balls and crosses with his feet but that's about it, like so many of his goals last season.

I think his stock has def gone down as of late, but some team will pay in January or next summer. If Barcelona want him, I think they'd be making a mistake but he can fit within the system, but I doubt they go after him. If Chelsea go after him I think that's a HUGE mistake. He will not fair well in the premier league, not on Chelsea. Jose has been scouting him for some time, we'll see.i just want the money so we can get someone else.

As a hardcore Colombia fan.  I'd say Jackson is a tad over hyped.  A great player, but no way is he Barca caliber.  He misses way too many gimmies for my liking.   Carlos Bacca or Luis Muriel would be much better in Barcelona....especially Muriel.  They can put him on loan till if and when he's ready, since he's so young.

Meulensteen for sure, Phelan was just a Yes man to Sir Alex, probably the worst assistant Manager in Sir Alex's reign,

Renee was very knowledgable when it came to tactics, And was one of the main reasons for Cristiano's big development

Let me just add that Rene really knew how to tap into a players head and get the best out of a player. As mentioned with Ronaldo's development, he understood tactics, strategy and how a player played and how to get the best out of what the said player had.

He got massive respect from the players, even RVP (who was only with him for a year) said he was "truly one of the best in the world"

Losing him was a massive blow to United.

I want to see Bale take over the game, I want to see what he can do with Ronaldo out.

Also want to see Bruma shine.

Ramos with a red card. It was week.
