The Ultimate Football Thread 2013-2014 Vol. 4 EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A etc

I ain't wanna be the first to say it :lol
:rollin

Seriously though, I think he was just a flash in the pan at Atleti, Jose just adding to the list of failed strikers at Chelsea :smokin :lol

He may turn out to be the real deal...but I've seen many players have a decent season followed by an INSANE season, which they end up not living up to the hype in following seasons.

I really didn't watch a lot of him last season, besides the derby's and CL.

But from what I've read people said he had good positioning, but wasn't really a great finisher really...

I think it will be interesting to see how he plays against PL defenders as well.

I really hate seeing footballers carrying man purses aka "murses"... At least get a Louie Vuitton or Gucci back pack...
mean.gif
those are toiletries bags. how else you going to carry that stuff?

I'm so annoyed if this signing comes to fruition. Barca will have paid €20m for a 30 year old CB & yet Barca will pay market value for the most vilified footballer to come along in a long time. Barca didn't even get a discount because of the third bite...

We've needed a CB for several years now & they're going to put all their cards on the table for someone whose 30? Mats Hummels is supposed to be going to United for the same price...

Don't get me wrong, Mathieu was a solid defender last season but he's 30. I'd feel better about the purchase if Barca also got Daley Blind or better still, they should buy Blind instead...

I just don't get the logic shown by Zubi, Bartomeu, & this board...

We'll pay market value for this buck toothed Hannibal wannabe yet Barca won't pay market value for the likes of Mehdi Benatia or Eliaquim Mangala (who looks to be ending up at City)... :{

Edit - looks like the deal is done...

I agree, Barca is a completely different organization and football team now. I used to admire them so much. So many " wtf" moments with this club now.

Bro I feel the same way. I didn't want to say first either lol.

But I guess Fear The Ibis is gone so no chance of an angry emotional response.

Hence why I said 'might.' I'd love to see them fall on their faces again.

inb4 Arsenal hasn't won in a decade/had Bendtner play a game last year.

Got damn... Morata injured his knee in his first day of training for Juve. He & the team are awaiting tests to determine the extent of the damage. :{

Costa will be fine.

Awful start for Morata.  I wanted him to develop at Real but there's no way of that happening.  I hate how they don't give the youth a chance such as Mata, Negredo, Soldado.  Is Morata even gonna get playing time w/ Llorente and Tevez?  Read that Man Utd are looking to swoop up Blind.

Looks like Xavi's signing with NYCFC is being held up while Barca figures out the farewell game for Xavi so thay can show their appreciation for the Blaugrana legend.

Monaco is said to be interested in Inter's douche bag extraordinaire Icardi...

That AS Monaco project seems like a joke.  Whatever happened w/ Malaga trying to be a powerhouse?  Still can't pay their players?

Monaco, Anzhi and Malaga have all failed in there bids to become football powerhouses.

Anzhi though :rollin

Monaco project is still young though. I'd give em another year at least. PSG has done better this far though.

You're all crazy

People said the same damn thing with Shevchenko, Anelka, and Torres. Just saying bro.

I wouldn't be surprised if Costa has less than 15 goals this season and what Chelsea have yearned and wanted so much is a 20 plus goal scorer.

Monaco finished 2nd behind PSG.

Not sure how anyone can say Monaco has failed at this point. PSG also had multtiple years head start. I want Marseille and Lyon competing for titles again though. :(

i cant read or do anything german language related but im pretty sure this is dortmunds u-23 team fans

Its a possibility that he doesn't meet expectations in his first year, but I feel he will come good for us. I like the physical nature that he plays with, almost Drogba-esque. I also like the service he will be getting with guys like Fabregas and Hazard pulling strings

Exactly. Gotta wait til they get through the CL to judge. Marseille and Lyon are done fighting for titles though; best case scenario is fighting for CL spots and hoping one of the juggernauts slips into 3rd.

inb4 that's all Arsenal is good at these days.

Considering Monaco had just been promoted I would say that they did extremely well for themselves. Lyon hasn't been the same since Benz left, they and Marseille are going to need an influx of cash if they want to compete with dat oil and Russian mob $$$.

Wenger has said that he won't be signing a new striker but is looking to sign a DM, GK and considering a CB.

The Khedira deal...whatever was there is off
but wouldnt Sami cover the DM role? is wages really the issue?

I guess they are. I wonder how much does he want.
As good as Khedira is, my issue has been that he is not a natural DM. I think that someone like Schneiderlin could be the smarter option if Wenger is looking for a pure DM. I rather have that tbh, a player that will sit. A component that will help us against other top teams, we all know what happened last season against them :{
Apparently we bid 30mil for Carvalho, but it sounds like his agent is putting out bs in the papers

Yep who knows where Monaco would have finished had Falcao been healthy

It's not a failure, just the reality of the football world that when a club like Real or Barca comes knocking players will force a move. They're doing the right thing by letting James make a dream move instead of holding him against his will. Especially since reports say Real are offering a more than fair amount of money.
