The titanic vol. lost

Personally IDC whether there's empathy or not, but i do find it funny that people will laugh & celebrate every misfortune the rich have & simultaneously wonder why the rich don't have empathy for the poor

It’s fair to say though throughout history the rich has never had empathy for the poor. Reason the poor will often show less compassion when something happens to the rich.

As some have stated, it’s really the times we live in. Personally, I feel for everyone that was on board. Mainly because this was one of those “if I get rich” pipe dreams I had for myself.

First build, lets see how deep the gulf of Mexico is.

Dawg. I can’t 🤣🤣

RE: The bolded. It’s because they were rich people doing rich people things IMO.

Can only speak for myself, but it’s mainly because it was a stupid idea to sign up for that journey on THAT vessel. A lot of the clowning I saw was from black folks, but that’s expected because in general we don’t do journeys to the ocean floor lol. I legit never knew that was even a thing because why the hell would anyone do that?

Sprinkle in the bootleg makeup of the sub and you had a recipe for the jokes to fly. For me the wealth thing only comes into play AFTER you factor in all the other stuff—it basically compounds the terrible decision making involved. Like you had that much money to blow and you got on that submersible??

You peeped that? I got “The PM” with the quickness
Thanks for accepting it with grace rather than pouting about “bias.”

Every community has different boundary lines, and attempts to be all things to all people invariably fail. We set out to create a forum that didn’t reproduce the majoritarian biases inherent in the overly permissive “free hate speech but no upsetting an authoritarian regime in a target market” and the overly restrictive “paper over injustice with false harmony by banning ‘divisive’ subject matter like public health crises, politics, or the existence of trans people.”

This requires a baseline level of respect, one determined by what the community deserves rather than any given poster.

I agree that over the years... the core Niketalk staff has attempted to be consistently fair, respectful, and understanding... in reference to allowing questionable but fair "free hate speech"... when community members challenge social norms... potentially created by "biased" and unfair capitalistic leaders/members... of unfair authoritarian regimes.

The problem lies in the potential bias that any NT Staff member could potentially have... due to a fair or unfair bias they have... in reference to the authoritarian regime being questioned.

In real time... Methodical Management Methodical Management cannot be held accountable for all or really any incorrect corrective action implemented by any NT Staff other than himself... due to a potential alliance, bias, or misunderstanding... that any NT staff member could have... with any authoritarian regime.

I believe that respect has always been the baseline... in reference to NT staff members handling NT community members "divisive" opinions... in reference to incorrect negative social norms... potentially created by unfair leaders/members... of unfair capitalistic authoritarian regimes.

In my opinion... the intent of authoritarian regimes has the right to be fairly questioned on Niketalk.. if that is what the fair and non negative capitalistic core NT Staff members want. If negative or incorrect information is being shared on Niketalk... in reference to public health crises, politics, the existence of trans people... or ANYTHING else... a community member fairly sharing correct information... that corrects an honest misinterpretation of already questionable subject matter by an NT staff member... should be what the fair and non negative capitalistic core NT Staff members should want.

At the end of the day... every situation should always be approached respectfully. At the end of the night... every situation should be handled on a case by case basis. If NT Staff members continuously show and/or enforce bias... the real will recognize it... wipe their hands... and just leave.

James Camron bout to drop the 4k version of Titanic and the Abyss after this... just realized that you cant stream The Abyss on any platform and it has never come out on BD. Endee up downloading it on a torrent after searching through a few hundred DVDs and still not finding it.

If Avatar wasnt so meh Id say that JC might be on to something, what with all the AI talk nowadays

Would the reaction be the same if they went to space instead?
I think it would.

It's not difficult to see that their demise is the direct result of scoffing at regulations created specifically to minimize the risk of death; having a healthy respect for existing rules and standards would have kept the passengers' BS-meter on. That they drank Rush's koolaid about prioritizing "innovation" over safety tells me they already believed that more bad than good comes from following the standards.

In addition, outside of the investment guy and his son, the other passengers were knowledgeable enough (one was a fellow explorer and the French guy was a former French navy commander - not sure if this is an official rank in the US Navy) not to take Rush's word as gospel. That's three out of five people who should've definitely known better.

And then, there's the rescue efforts. When things go sideways, massive government resources get mobilized, and it stings that we have to do this for people who took every opportunity to minimize their risks.

I'm not disturbed by the lack of empathy. I am annoyed by all the people grandstanding now like "PeOpLe DiEd".

And? They took a risk, died doing something they presumably loved, and lived a better life than 99.9% of the earth. So it goes. The CEO seems to be a real POS anyway.

I do feel bad for the son though. If it's true what they say about him not wanting to be onboard and only trying to appease his father; THAT is a tragic loss of life.

Seem like they all knew the risks and really had the Yolo mindset aside from the son who seem like he was dragged along. Interviews from family members saying such and such enjoyed the sea and exploring. They went out doing what they enjoyed. Worst ways for them to go out

Didn’t go back too many pages so didn’t see all the controversy. I’ll admit I was making jokes (off NT) but I was talking to my girl and was like damn people kinda have a lack of empathy for the rich. And when it was confirmed they were dead I was like damn that’s kinda sad. People still died regardless of wealth.
