The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

Apparently both are inter Miami inspired watches. Makes sense with the Beckham connection.

Either way that Tudor chrono is wayyy too big and not worth whatever absurd markups they will demand.

First off, that’s a healthy budget so don’t let comparison be the thief of joy. You can get multiple incredible watches with that money.

Second, I’d ask if you want just one watch that you’re going to wear for the rest of your life or are you looking to start building a collection?

Either way, my biggest recommendation is don’t spend that budget on your first watch. Go to a dealer and try on a bunch of different watches and see what you like. Do you like the look of a dive watch with a bezel, like the Submariner? Or do you like a more formal/dressy style, like a Datejust?

Once you have a better idea of that, I’d consider starting with something like a Longines or Tudor and wearing that for six months to see if you really do like it like you thought you would. You can jump in with a Rolex on day one, but if you get something that doesn’t necessarily match your lifestyle or you don’t like to wear it like you thought you might, you’re going to have a really expensive desk weight.

Welcome to the thread!
I definitely appreciate you taking out the time to respond to me that means a lot. I eventually down the line would like to start a collection but I was just going to jump out there and get something that I thought would be decent for that amount of money. Funny that you mentioned those two because the submariner and datejust just so happens to be two of my favorites as far as looks go(that I may be able to afford lol) because they are quite a few of them that are out of my price range that I would love to pick up.

Omega has some nice pieces as well that I've been looking at. I'll definitely go forward with your recommendation and go try on several so that I can get a feel them and make my decision that way. Once again I really do appreciate you taking out the time to respond and giving me a warm welcome to the thread!!

very nice, i got mine on the rubber strap because i hate nato straps

you got yours from vanguard?

Do you have the 58 or 54 on the rubber?

I think I’m going to grab a black vanguard rubber for my gilt 58 for the summer. Unless does anyone recommend a different brand for rubber straps?

Yeah the nato strap is too big for my wrist. Yeap, vanguard. Not sure if I would pay $100+ for them again.

oh yeah I just bought mine when it was on sale, i think it was $75 but theres so many cheaper versions now that works well enough

the 58 and you can wait when they have a sale, i think they do like 25% off twice a year?

but like i said, there are so many cheaper options now like this from strapsco where they do sales often and they always have a buy 2 get 1 free (and that stacks with the sale)

look around and if you are also willing to try them out, some of the aliexpress versions are worth a try, some of them are less than $10

missed this, very nice pick-up, 37mm right?

Yeah 37mm, it wears a little bigger with the integrated bracelet design. Definitely get a lot for your money if you can get it at the right price.

looks good, im kind of digging the all black ceramic especially with the meteorite dial

Yeah that one's nice. If they DLC coated the caseback it would be a winner for me. The titanium with the meteorite is beautiful if this one wasn't such a good price that would be the one I'd go for.

Please dont over pay on those rubber straps. They all are from China with the same exact mold and quality just repackaged with "place your brand name here". Those joints are literally $3-$5 on aliexpress. I've ordered ALL the colors from aliexpress and its no different. I just put this one on a moonswatch but the ones that fit the Tudor or any other brand watch you want to put it on are no different.

i agree to a certain extent

i have maybe close to 30 rubber straps by now, got plenty from aliexpress and stores like strapsco and even some from etsy and the vanguard is the best feeling and quality of everything ive purchased

i agree though, strapsco and etsy and amazon straps/rubber straps are pretty much rebranded aliexpress straps but vanguard, rubberb, etc... did manufacture their own (or at least started it) then aliexpress chinese actories got a hold of the mold and started selling it themselves

also, vanguard is the only rubber strap that ive seen that has a short and long options, at least for tudor when i bought mine a couple of years ago

is it worth 10x the price? thats up to you

you also got to be careful with picking what you buy from aliexpress, there are some too good to be true rubbers there that i simply do not trust to use on a watch that ight cost $500+
