I think lug to lug talk often gets blown out of proportion online. Yes, you don’t want a watch with lugs that overhang your wrist. But past that, I do think dial size (and color) of a watch is still the key to how it appears on the wrist.

I’ve tried on the regular Speedy which everyone says “oh it can fit almost any wrist because of the short lugs!” but at 42mm, the case itself seemingly eats up my whole wrist and still looks big on me, proportionately.

My wrist is somewhat flat so I’ve worn the Mark XX (49mm lug to lug) quite comfortably, but I found 40mm of all dial still looked large on my wrist, imo.

I think this is where the BB58 has nailed it. The lugs are somewhat long (nearly 48mm) but the 39mm case with a bezel makes the dial/case look perfectly proportioned on many wrists.

The Rolex marketing machine might be the best in the entire world, but I hope they’ve seen what happened to Nike when they pivoted to direct sales rather than through mom and pops and certain chains.

It’s not quite apples to apples but the brand erosion can happen quickly.

And I’m still skeptical of Rolex authorizing the sale of pre-owned Rolexes for over retail. Just a lot of room for impropriety there…

I agree one the Rolex cpo but recently someone at one of these spots said they can’t cpo anything < 3 years old so I think that may prevent some *******?

honestly, I think it might improve their image if they can control the gray dealers taking everything and selling brand new, untouched watches at above retail

at least I assume direct Rolex store wont be doing backdoor deals and will sell to actual consumers, if thats the case then I honestly am all for it

then again, AP operates the same way but I do think they try to prevent selling to resellers and they make a lot less watches but we shall see

Huge. Love the idea of 3 straps though. Like having 3 watches in one. Almost justifies the price.
