the thread about nothing...

There has to be an technique/thought process to get someone to enjoy reading. I swear reading a fiction book is something I have never been able to immerse myself into and enjoy, probably due to the time I don't allow myself to take.

It's fine, you don't have to enjoy FICTION.

There are so many other genres.

I am like you, I can't get into Fiction.

Biographies, Auto-Biographies, Spirituality.

I think it's possible for anyone to read if it's the right book for THAT person.

folks will always have opinions and it's fair for them to speak on it. but the treatment of Biles wasn't judgement or rational opinion, it was just personal attacks. the white, right wing media used her decision to sit out the olympics as an opportunity to make unfounded, personal attacks. you telling me the greatest, most decorated gymnast in the history of the olympics is a "quitter" who "brought shame her country" because she was concerned about her physical and mental health?

as for the "anti-vax" friends? you might have to re-evaluate these homies.
they are sounding more like china media by the day. have anyone watch the pressure those pingpong players went thru after losing to Japan. they make it seem like they are still battling in world war 2. just sad.

Edit: not related to her at all. just reminded me of some convos i’ve had with some anti vax friends who feel all attacked and judged…for asking them why they aren’t taking the vaccine.

I'd say I would look at it the other way around. anti-vax people have more tendency to attack other people verbally and physically. most anti-vax supporters are trouble makers. we got people at work that refused the vax but were treated normally.

I agree there. I love reading all of that stuff, including self help type books.
But fantasy stuff? I’m out.

I think it's contingent upon what they enjoy reading, but also how they normally read. I've read much more research articles than books, thus I typically read on my phone or laptop. Aside from a textbook, I haven't read a printed book since my late teens.

I'm the exact same way. I feel like I can get more from a non fictional book and apply what I read into existence instead of it dead ending at just a thought.

Someone has to really convince me to watch a fictional movie with them or else it's just not going to happen. (Unless it's something I grew up on as a kid.)

Are you guys the same way when it comes to movies(or TV programs)?

So...yall rocking with the mental health day for Biles or did she quit? I know what I think...

Jalen did his thing here. Especially when he was talking about athletes dealing with their mental health.
