all gas depending on the region comes from pretty much the same place. the differences from brand to brand and octane (87,89,91) is the additives each company uses. its like buying koolaid premixed with water and each company has their special sugar blend.

You don't notice the difference in gas grades going from regular to premium but you do the other way around. I recently copped a Acura TL as my hoopty run around and accidentally put regular in it, smh...

Regular driving its not really noticeable, but it started idling rough when stopped at a light and had no pep going up hills at highway speed. Also gas mileage wasn't as good.
