I was listening to a podcast last week and they mentioned the code names for the N64, including Ultra 64 (which were used in Killer Instinct and Cruisin USA) and Project Reality.

I forgot about the whole Silicon Graphics angle.

Props to Nintendo for developing Star Fox and Donkey Kong Country (Rare).

Also wild the Virtual Game Boy had to live and die for what we now enjoy today.

I was there. Fatal Fury 2 was the first fighting game to have interludes. It tied together with the story in Fatal Fury.

This was tied together with the OVAs and mangas. The first fighting game to have lore and story. They ratcheted it up with Art of Fighting and eventually KoF 94. KoF 96 was probably the first Japanese fighter where I felt the storyline was important and entertaining. Alpha 2 was up there as well thanks to the SF 2 Anime Movie.

But…I’ll say Midway took it to another level with MK 2. So did Tekken with part 2.

But FF 2 was the first.

I didn’t see a thread to really post about the Garou Demo. Gameplay wise it was great, graphics probably 7.5/10. The netcode and UI need major help.

The story set up Wolfgang Krauser as the new bad. And he sort of had his Shadowloo sub bosses, a boxer, a matador and Billy Kane.
